葉麗儀於80年代主唱港劇上海灘主題曲﹐哄動一時﹐這首粵語歌曲除了成為她的代表作﹐更令她成為80年代一位重要的粵語歌手﹐可是筆者認識她卻是因為70年代初她的一張西洋專輯“Frances Yip's Target Hits”﹐當時尤其喜歡她的 Beautiful Sunday。

其實自己對音樂很挑﹐聽西洋歌曲都會挑原唱的﹐所以就算70年代聽下許多本地歌手或樂團翻唱的歌曲﹐但腦海裡留下的印象﹐也會是後來才聽的原唱。感覺香港樂壇雖然曾出版過很多西洋專輯﹐但論到語言﹐華人其實又怎能跟人家的 Mother Language相比呢﹐而且本地歌手灌錄英語專輯時﹐許多歌曲都是人唱他唱齊唱﹐不一定有個人特色﹐所以雖然葉麗儀在麗風時期出版過許多張英語專輯﹐卻沒想到有CD出版的一天。然而2004年﹐D&I及麗風在出版一套5張的葉麗儀風華歲月珍藏集 Boxset時﹐也不忘輯錄的一張22首西洋歌曲的 Greatest Hits ﹐當中19首為翻唱歌曲﹐其餘 3 首相信是本地的英語創作﹐這可算是非判珍貴的一張CD ﹐因為站在商業市場考慮﹐要獨立單張發行的機實在不大。
