靜候兩年多﹐繼在商業上慘敗的Song From The Last Century 專輯後﹐2002年George Michael 終於發行新曲 Freeek!

Freeek! 跟以往的 George Michael 單曲不同﹐它像 Club House 播放的電子舞曲﹐似乎上一張Standard Album用作自娛﹐但這次卻來個180度商業化轉變﹐而唱片公司也由 Virgin 轉到環球的 Polydor 去。當時 George 與唱片公司簽下的只是一張單曲合約﹐似乎也沒有出版專輯的打算﹐而有人猜測唱片公司對 George 近年的成績﹐未必再有信心﹐但環球憑著他過往8000萬張銷售佳續﹐所以也不妨合作一試。

George Michael不單曲風改變﹐MV中的他也變成了火紅機械魔怪﹐此張 Single 除了收錄原裝單曲版及一首 Remix外﹐也收錄了一首1999年 Here There And Everywhere A Concert For Linda的演唱會錄音 The Long And Winding Road﹐但是兩曲的對比﹐就顯得他的改變無寧兩可了。Freeek 登上英國流行榜第7位。

同年﹐George Michael 在 Polydor 旗下再推出另一張新 Single“Shoot The Dog”﹐這首歌曲是他針對Tony Blair 快速決定支持 George W. Bush 對Iraq 開戰的決定。歌曲得到英國流行榜第12位﹐而 George 事後因為恐荒而從美國搬返英國居住。其實此曲只屬平凡之作﹐不過造成的話題甚大。
