英國60年代著名歌手 Tom Jones 於1988年與Art Of Noise 合作﹐翻唱 Prince 的名曲 Kiss成功﹐打進英國流行榜第5位﹐流行一時。事隔多年﹐再下一城﹐1999年找來17 隊當今新一代組合或不同類別的音樂人合作﹐炮製了 Reload 專輯。

當時較新的名字有 Cardigans﹑Robbie Williams﹑Natalie Imbruglia 及 M People 的 Heather Small 等﹐其餘還有重量級的 Simply Red﹑Van Morrisonhi等﹐不過最令人意想不到竟有 Trip-Hop 組合 Portishead。

Burning Down The House 翻唱自 Talking Head 1993年的歌曲﹐而Mama Told Me Not To Come 的原唱就是60年代的 The Animals。Tom遇上壞孩子 Robbie Williams﹐來個徹底搖滾的 Are You Gonna Go My Way﹐那是 Lenny Kravitz 的作品。All Mine帶來007的感覺﹐I’m Left You’re Right She’s Gone就在懷Elvis的舊﹐不過這首歌改編得很 Rock。與 Heather Small合唱的 You Need Love Like I Do翻自 Gladys Knight & The Pips 的舊歌﹐ Soul味十足之餘又加點 Funky。與James Taylor Quartet合作﹐瞬間帶出 Modern Jazz的 Looking Out My Window﹐可是與 Van Morrision一起﹐又乖乖的合唱了Sometimes We Cry。同期因為電影 Trainspotting而大為流行的 Lust For Life﹐Tom Jones與 Pretenders從 Iggy Pop手中搶來演繹﹐不過只屬中規中矩。還有翻唱老歌 Baby It’s Cold Outside﹐加上Big Band的伴奏﹐猶如把你帶到 Las Vegas式表演與 Cerys打情罵俏。Tom Jones在專輯中的表現就如百變一樣﹐不單證明他多才多藝﹐而且更是人老心不老。不過筆者覺得最性感的歌曲﹐還是與Mousse T. 合作的 Sexbomb ﹐此曲打進英國流行榜第3位﹐而美國方面也被 HBO連續劇 Sex & The City選為插曲。 MV 方面用了Peppermint Disco Radio Mix 版本﹐不過筆者覺得還是 Album Version要讚得多了。

專輯出版了Special Editon﹐除了17首原裝Album Version歌曲外﹐還有四首Remix及4個MV。另外發行的5張單曲﹐都能獲得英國榜很好的名次﹐分別為 Burning Down The House (#7)﹑Baby It’s Cold Outside (#17)﹑Mama Told Me Not To Come (#4)﹑Sexbomb (#3) 及You Need Love Like I Do (#24)﹐ 而專輯就獲得冠軍位置。
