1999年發現影星 Jennifer Lopez 出版唱片﹐因著好奇﹐於是便購買了她的首張專輯來聽。

對她的首個印象是 1997年與 Sean Penn 合演的 U-Turn及1998年與 George Clooney 合演的 Out Of Sight﹐不過總括來說她拍的爛片不少。首張專輯 On The 6 收錄的歌曲頗多元化﹐走的音樂路線是 Hip-Hop﹑R&B﹑House 及那個年頭最流行的 Latin Music﹐Should’ve Never ﹑Could This Be Love﹑與 Marc Anthony合唱的 No Me Ames便是很性感的情歌﹐而後者更有 Tropic Remix及 Ballad Version兩個版本。

首張單曲 If You Had Your Love是一首中慢的歌曲﹐打進Billboard流行榜冠軍達5星期。記得當時香港一篇樂評對她的專輯大肆評擊﹐不單形容她的歌聲是那麼的不濟﹐更謂她的專輯很快在美國便丟在特價欄裡﹐可是筆者卻很喜歡這張專輯﹐感覺很 Easy Listening ﹐令人聽得很舒服。專輯還有單曲 Waiting For Tonight攀到美國流行榜第8位﹐不過筆者不太喜歡此曲﹐但是拉丁版 Una Noche Mas就比較討好﹐後來唱片公司再推出 Let’s Get Loud作單曲發行﹐大概因為要宣傳首張MV DVD Feelin' So Good (2000/CMV) 之故﹐記得當時看到Channel V首次播放此曲﹐自己興奮不已。

Let’s Get Loud節奏非常輕快﹐一聽上便很想隨著音樂起舞﹐後來發現原來是 Gloria Estefan的作品﹐怪不得很有 Miami Sound Machine的影子。

很快於2001年 Jennifer Lopez 便推出第2張專輯﹐並且把自己的名字簡化為 J.Lo﹐而筆者也乘著出差之便﹐於美國買了這張專輯。專輯所走的音樂路線跟 On The 6 差不多﹐但節奏感加強了。記得當時有報道描述她常愛在街頭與黑人 Jam 歌﹐所以Jennifer 的歌曲就越來越“黑”。專輯中除了 Play打上 Billboard流行榜第18位外﹐還有5星期冠軍歌 I’m Real ﹑6星期冠軍歌 Ain’t It Funny及第10位的I’m Gonna Be Alright。唱片公司更打鐵趁熱於2002年推出J To Tha L-O! The Remixes專輯﹐把 On The 6及 J.Lo的歌曲 Remix推出。
