1997年英國有一首單曲 Torn﹐紅到不得了﹐主唱的乃是來自澳洲的Natalie Imbruglia﹐多年來更成為英國眾多雜錦合輯經常收錄的歌曲。

Natalie Imbruglia的背景跟 Kylie Minogue非常相似﹐澳洲出生﹐是演員﹑是歌手﹐不過她更是模特兒及創作人。年紀輕輕的她就在澳洲電視肥皂劇 Neighbours擔任一角﹐可是最後還是喜歡當歌手﹐1996年才21歲的Natalie便搬到英國居住碰碰運氣。幸運之神眷顧了她﹐同年即獲得RCA一紙合約。翌年發行首張單曲 Torn﹐不單登上英國流行榜亞軍﹐而且更成為英國有史以來播放率最高的歌曲﹔而美國方面也反應熱烈﹐在 Billboard 播放榜 (Hot 100 Airplay) 中得到11星期冠軍之久﹐可惜在當地沒作單曲發行。隨後的單曲成績不算理想﹐但是Left of the Middle (1997/RCA) 專輯仍銷售過百萬。
