The recommended way to see if your jeans are authentic is to take them to a store. Compare your jeans with the store jeans side by side. Also be sure to talk to a denim specialist or someone with experience. Stories have circulated about obviously fake jeans being turned in and the stores placing the fakes on the shelves next to the authentics. It has also been speculated that there may be a some special dye inserted in to some authentic Diesel jeans denim that some Diesel stores will be able to identify.

*Fakes are often an incorrect wash, color and fabric



This picture is a comparison between a fake and an authentic pair of 772's. Be it known that the fake pair in the picture has been worn a bit and washed and the authentic pair is brand new. However large differences are visible. Authentic Diesels will more than likely fit better. Authentic Diesels often have a noticeably higher quality of fabric. Compare a fake Diesel and a real Diesel side by side and note the difference. Often the fake Diesel jeans are thicker denim (not always though) made from oily thick cheap standard stock denim. The authentics often have a thin, kinda elastic, smooth diesel denim.







*Fakes often do not have the correct Microstitching



Fake Zathans often do not have the correct microstitching. Diesel has started putting microstitching on its newer models. Older authentic models do not have microstitching. Look on the label. Under the "Made in Italy" there is a little white or silver lining. Look REALLY closely and you will see the letters D I E S E L etched in there if the jeans are authentic. Please notice the differences between the tags. The authentic tags have raised stitching and the edges of the tag look very different from the edges of the fake tags. Also be aware that there have been rumors of fake microstitching. However they are yet to be confirmed and none of the authors have seen fake microstitching.







*Fakes often lack the hard to read numbers above indian head



On a pair of real Diesels there are these little tiny hard to read numbers above the Indian head. You have to look at them in the light...they seem to read something like 77-55-3607.






*Fakes often have incorrect rips and disressing marks



On a pair of real Diesel jeans that come with rips. You can test the authenticity by looking to see if the rips are hand riped (Authentic Diesel) or machine ripped and look the same(fake diesel). The real rips sometimes are more like scratches.
