Peter Gabriel）生於1950年2月13日，出生地是英國倫敦，他是個音樂鬼才，不但是樂團主唱，而鍵盤、敲擊樂、直笛、以及合成樂器都是拿手絕活。Peter Gabriel是1970年代紅極一時的搖滾樂團「創世紀」（Genesis）的團長，鼎鼎大名的搖滾樂巨星Phil Collins則是樂團的鼓手。就搖滾樂的領域而言，創世紀樂團讓所謂的「激進搖滾樂」（Progressive Rock）成為更華麗、更具戲劇性的樂風。
