What Should I Do With My Life?

~我的未來該何去何從?~

“We are all writing the story of our life. We want to know what it’s "about," what are its themes and which theme is on the rise. We demand of it something deeper, or richer, or more substantive. We want to know where we’re headed--not to spoil our own ending by ruining the surprise, but we want to ensure that when the ending comes, it won’t be shallow. We will have done something. We will not have squandered our time here. This book is about that urge, that need.”

The book “What Should I Do With My Life” offers questions not answers, it is a book consist of true stories of people at the crossroads which readers would need to sort it through themselves. The book does not offer a systematic study or a self-guidance for readers; rather it is full of stories and problems of people that come from all walks of life. I guess people always like seeking new adventures, however, people tend to weigh the pros and cons, while some decide the cost is too high and they back down; some have decided to leap forward for change and experienced bitter disappointment; while some have jumped out and find themselves soaring to the sky.

This book also gives some good insights into people looking for a career change, as the author observed that people avoided changes in life as it involved in the loss of identity. Everyday people would hang back ‘because they don’t want to be the kind of person who abandons friends and takes up with a new crowd’, which is precisely what each would have to do following a life transition. The author also touches up with a warning of solitude that also comes with any monumental change of life such as divorce, death of a family member or migrating to a new country, as the fear of being alone is so much greater than each individual would admit to themselves.

I found the book simple to read and also glad that I’m not the only person in the world with problems and frustrations about one’s own life directions. However, I have found that each story in this book is unique and that my will be special too, therefore, it is up to one’s own to create their own mosaic and find the meaning and purpose of life yourself, however long it takes to search for that answer. Maybe it will take one year, ten years or even more to find that answer, however I believe it is that hope in life that makes the road ever so challenging and interesting.

This is a book I definitely recommend for all to read who are also searching.............

↑ This part impressed me that it pointed out people's problems in nowaday's society...

我覺得阿
教人何去何從的書
通常都不敢隨便在書裡跟你確定的講要何去何從
因為這種事不是書可以教的
是必須自己體會的
