今年諾貝爾經濟學獎兩位得獎人中出現了第一位女性得獎人，但令經濟學界跌破眼鏡的還包括：

(1) She is a professor of political science.

(2) Her research method is from case studies to derive general patterns.

(3) She shows that local communities (non-market institutions) often manage common resources -- such as woods, lakes and fish stocks -- better on their own than when outside authorities impose rules.

I like the third point. :)
