Sorry that I wrote Ming on an incorrect page.

Going back to the late 60s, I remember RTV used to play two videos during commercial breaks.

At the time, my English standard was not good enough to pick up the lyrics but I can remember distinctly the no. 1 song featuring really long-haired hippies mouthing up-close at the screen : “…….Won’t get to get about, till the day I DIE!........”. The whole song was punctuated by”……till the day I DIE…..IDIE…….”. To my family, it represented an era of horrible, ugly looking and idle foreigners and we found it time wasting to listen to the song. However, as I am an adult now, I understand what was happening in USA at the time.

Song no. 2 came slightly after. It featured a not-so-long-haired “blonde” (I guess blonde, from the black & white TV) man singing with a guitar entertaining in the evening on a cruise boat. You know those with steam-propelled boat with a rolling wheel. He kept mouthing : “ Boolay boolay, Boolay How……..”.

Do you remember these songs? Where can they be found?

I remember the theme song for a Japanese sports sequel on TVB( a girl who after being toilet-trained to swim fast by her elder sister could turn like a sword fish darting out of the water). This sequel came after the famous volleyball sequel of So Yau Mei.

Thanks. The links work this time. It is very nice to see those pictures and listen to the theme song again. I also like the fact that I have remembered the tune correctly. In fact, at the then childhood to teenage years, with nothing much clouding my mind, I could remember the tune, the lyrics, even mimick the Japanese lyrics easily and recall to mind anytime even to this day. Whereas for the pop songs nowadays, I have difficulty remembering anything.

By the way, I remember in the early 70s, 伍衛國 sang a good "卿心喚我心，....萬種恩義....". Was it 清宮殘夢? Would you be able to find the song?

Would you also be able to recall and find the theme songs for 梁天來,金絲雀,小白菜與楊乃母, 秋海棠 and朱鬥怨?

Sorry that I was unable to locate the song carrying lyrics as "卿心喚我心，....萬種恩義...." which you mentioned being performed by 伍衛國. Actually, I'm in possession of a CD album having all of both 清宮殘夢 & 巫山盟's theme songs but just couldn't find out the above pieces of words appearing in the CD's covering lyric sheet. Also, those theme songs of 清宮殘夢 were sung by the drama series' first actor 張之玨 or actress 汪明荃 or both, not 伍衛國.

On that 伍衛國 song, I remember it depicted the end of Qing Dynasty or 1900s, with 伍 acting opposite to 李司祺, if I am not mistaken. 關菊英 later re-sang the same song. She substituted the 卿 with 君 at the word of the lyrics.

I still recall the tune as :

I’ve been able to dig out that song finally. Its name is "惜別" and it comes from HK-TVB’s drama series 《董小苑》. 華娃, not 關菊英, should be the principal singer of "惜別" and 伍衛國 was only the secondary.

1) "Let It Out"及"Wish You Luck,My Love"是夏韶聲最早期灌成唱片的歌曲，收錄於1976年麗風唱片公司(Life Records)出版的一張名為《Disco Time》的雜錦大碟內，當時他是用了Dandy Ng這名字的。其餘出現在這張唱片中的歌手及組合有:狄波拉(Deborah Lee)、薛家燕(Nancy Sit)、黃思雯(Cecilia Wong)、楊道火及奧斯卡大樂隊(Oscar Band)、The Wild Cats (一支四女二男的韓國樂隊)。

I remember in the late 60s, there is one "cross-over" soprano by the name of 高小紅 or 虹, She had a marvelous song. My Mandarin standard was not that good at the time so the only lyrics I could pick up were :

There was also a Taiwanese singer by the name 包娜娜. She had a song with Mandarin lyrics like "就是這樣被抛棄，就是這樣被抛棄，再回頭我也不要你，可恨的人，可愛的人，………. 也不要排徊我就愛上你，也愛上你…………". Again, I can only remember the tune and some of these lyrics. Was it by the name 再回頭我也不要你? I remember it was very popular, probably second to 今天不回家 only.

Lastly, would you know the name of the theme music of TVB's 民間傳奇 ? It sounded like Cantonese "Di-Da" music but the tune was much more melodic and better than generally heard from you know where.

Well, I still have in mind the name of 高小紅 who had been a female singer of the 60's & early 70's but just don't know which song she did play that you're referring to. Besides, I guess that she hadn't cut any records in HK as I could find none locally ever since I started recollecting those old vinyl records about 12 years ago.

I will keep looking up for高小紅then. I remember that 好姑娘 song was sung in an operatic-soprano way, which was rare in those days. But she sang it beautifully.

As a young boy with uncanny ability to sing above high C, I used to immerse myself mimicking that same song in the shower. In the process, I day-dreamt that I was one of those trebles ethereally reaching the highest notes in those European gothic cathedrals.

Thanks for the information on Fantastics. That's the time a lot young pop groups coming out from Hong Kong, Singapore & Malaysia. Other than Wynners, Jade, New topnotes & Ming, There're lesser know group like the Seemlum, PAWS, Ramband (they claimed that they have the Best guitarist at their time). WE also come out to my mind which only come out with one LP. I will dearly hope you can do a write up on them.
On the Malaysia/Singapore '70 pop scene. There were a lot to their credit, just name a few, October Cherries, Western Union Band, Strollers, The Blues Gang, Heritage, Well that's my teenage time and that's when I I have my best time in my life.

上次你曾提及的外籍歌手Sam Sorono唱片，最近我在互聯網上找到他的一些資料。他是菲律賓人，曾是已故一代功夫電影巨星李小龍的徒弟，參與過演出一套於1982年由麥當傑導演的粵語片"神探光頭妹 Dragon Force" ，其後遠赴歐洲發展，並以模倣Tom Jones在舞台上的表演及演譯其歌曲為主。可惜他不幸剛於上月9日在英國的羅瑟勒姆市(Rotherham)因癌病逝世....
