鄭子固 Kenny Cheng - 戀之火

鄭子固(Kenny Cheng)，七十年代中本地女歌手鄭寶雯(May Cheng)的兄長，亦是填補離隊成員馮煒林(威利)而成為後期的玉石樂隊(Jade)主音歌手。記憶中，他加入不久後樂隊就拆夥了，而從樂隊在後期灌唱的歌曲中細聽，也頗難認辨出那首是他主唱的。

 

1979年，一間名為Kam Foo的本地唱片公司，出版了鄭子固的第一張個人大碟「戀之火」。唱片內有下列的粵語及歐西歌曲：

可看到這些選曲，完全是為符合當年代的市場生態及品味而錄製的。唱片的Side 1，全是粵語歌。"戀之火"是改編自Ambrosia的"How Much I Feel"，"冷暖情"是大野克夫(Katsuo Ohno)的作品"イマジネーション"(即夏詔聲版本的"愛的擁抱")，"我的小詩"刞改自Terry Jack原唱的"Seasons In The Sun",及翻唱柳影紅/關正傑的"換到千般恨"、薰妮的"故鄉的雨"和區瑞強的"陌上歸人"。Side 2的全歐西歌曲部份，除了Richard Harris原唱的"My Boy"外，其餘的都是大家耳熟能詳的名字。唱片推出後，筆者的記憶是本地電台鮮有播放，但在晚上佐敦及油麻地區的廟街平民市場唱片檔攤，情況就完全兩樣。他的"換到千般恨"翻唱版，更是"由街頭一直去到街尾"皆可聽到的熱播曲。雖然他這版本確實是有很不錯的演譯，惟筆者對此「廟街現狀」情况仍抱有點奇怪的感覺，只能推想這可能是基於他在當時有不凡的背境支持吧。

其後的八十年代，鄭子固仍有灌唱了不少的粵語歌曲，這包括了收錄在1982及1983年永聲唱片公司出版的「香港城市組曲」及「嘉利娜的憂鬱」大碟內數首富民謠氣息的本地作品，及1987與1988年藝視唱片公司為他出版的個人大碟「海港」和「Friends Connection」。

至於近年來，基本上已聽不到他的狀況了。

想不到他還有這麼早的音樂背景﹐我當年只認識“海港”而已﹐也很喜歡這首歌。

Sorry for Not using Chinese Charater, (Just don't know how to write in "Computer" Chinese.
I was a Jade fans for a long time, Since late '70. I owned four of their LPs. I knew that they also had a "Greatest Hits" album which I still seaching for. From the 1st LP to their 4th LP, there are few changes on their line-up. Until now I still look for write up on this incredible band. Hope you can do a write on then soon.

文志唱片在約兩年前出版的兩張The Best Of 大AL精選CD，亦有收錄了不少七十年代Jade為好市灌唱的歌，你有否買了?

Hi,
Thanks for list on Jade Greatest Hits LP. Other than the Chinese Title, All song wsa Extracted from their first Three LPs. "Show me the way" only issued on HOUSE RECORDS complilation, Same for "Soldier of Fortune"
I did purchase the two Big-Al+Jade CDs thru YesAsia month ago.
The Album that you are looking for Entitle "Smile" recorded in 1977 which is their last LP. Big Al was not appeard on this LP. (I assumed he was venture on his Solo carrer). Kennny Cheng is the Lead vocalist. The notable absentee from this album is their Keyboardist Bingo Tso. I think their First two LPs were their Best performers, both musically and vocal wise.

Dear Macaenese,

Ming was another local group with a European flair. I think they reached their top with U and I in 1973? But they were beaten into 2nd place by Chelsea Chan's Darkside of your Mind so they could not go on to Japan for the song contest.

In that same LP with U and I (owned by my brother but once again picked up pretty fast by me), they had a very good original song with lyrics : " Now I'm standing on the wrong side of yesterday, wishing that today was tomorrow........". I think the name was Wrongside of Yesterday. Would you have both U & I and Wrongside of Yesterday?

The title of the song you mentioned should be 'The Wrong Side' and it is listed in Side One of their second LP album - Ming (1975 S-33ESX-223).

I like May Cheng "相思灑滿地" very much，but I can't find it, can you help? or al least post it in your blog?
btw, how do you know a lots of music info. and how can find so much disc covers...?

Very sorry that I don't have the "相思灑滿地" LP album that covers the song of same title played by May Cheng.

I am indeed an "old" man that used to listen to those songs from radio between late 60's & mid 70's. Also, I could say that I might still have a good memory about that. Within the past 10 years, I've been searching from the streets to locate and buy back whatever vinyl albums I could think of that I had been in possession those old days.... Luckily, I've been able to reach about 90% of my goal so far.
