傳奇的台灣舞蹈月娘-蔡瑞月
報載台灣舞蹈先驅蔡瑞月已於5/29日病逝澳洲，台灣在藝術文化上的國寶級人物又少了一位，不免令人唏噓。在追憶這位世紀風華女性的同時，也期望政府對於位於北市中山北路的蔡瑞月舞蹈研究社古蹟保存予以適當處理，留住台灣舞蹈的真實記憶 （見浴火重生的蔡瑞月舞蹈研究社）。
蔡瑞月的故事從海洋開始
1946 年，二次大戰剛結束。在硝煙依然刺鼻的太平洋海面上，大久丸號急速航行；船上 2000 多名旅日青年學生，鏗鏘談論，忙碌而澎湃的思潮急切尋找共鳴的和弦；向南凝望的瞳睛閃現新國家的美麗藍圖。四天三夜的航程，鮮少人浪費時間睡覺，因為台灣光復的事實是比任何美夢都更美的夢。

那時， 25 歲的蔡瑞月，穿梭在這群以男性為主體的知識菁英中。她微笑諦聽，感覺到自己被一波波的語言洋流承載浮動，隨著蔡培火的歌詩「台灣、台灣、咱台灣，海真闊，山真高 … 」的節奏，她的手幻化成了故鄉的風，她的腳幻化成了故鄉的樹，她的肢體幻化成了故鄉的水鷺，翩翩飛翔在大久丸船的甲板上 ….
然而，男性所描繪的國家藍圖，畢竟還少了某些東西。
蔡瑞月於是換上了薄紗舞衣，搖身成為印度女神，藉由異邦女子的身份，在男性菁英所建構的國家藍圖上，盡情彩繪女性對藝術、對美、對愛的渴望。那一刻，雲朵佇足觀賞，海鷗忘記振翅，魚兒屏息聆聽。
「 1946 年，蔡老師在大久丸號上所作的表演，對同船知識菁英來說，是一場現代表演藝術的洗禮。」舞蹈家蕭渥廷說，「對女性來說更是一種解放的啟示－－肢體的。」也是情慾的。
然而，新國家卻由邪惡的政權所宰制。短短數年內，蔡瑞月被她所熱切擁抱的祖國，丟入牢獄，撕裂家庭，粉碎愛情，甚至被要求為迫害她的政權而舞。她舞著、舞著，在囚禁她身體自由的牢獄，在箝制她思想自由的島嶼，在自我放逐的異國沙灘。她以舞蹈向世界宣示美與愛，以美與愛向迫害者宣示勝利。
蔡瑞月簡介
1921年出生於台南，1937年畢業台南第二高等女校，1941年畢業日本東京石井漠舞蹈體育專科學院，一九四五年畢業日本石井綠舞蹈研究所。旅日期間，隨舞蹈團赴越南、新加坡、馬來亞、緬甸及日本各大城市演出。
1946年返台，創立台灣第一家舞蹈研究社「蔡瑞月舞蹈藝術研究社」，1947年與執教台灣大學的雷石榆結婚，1949年雷受政治迫害而流放廣州，蔡瑞月亦無辜被牽連下獄三年，自日返回後五十多年，蔡瑞月一直致力於舞蹈的教學，編導、演出與推廣，是台灣舞蹈界的開拓者，舞蹈包含現代舞、芭蕾舞、民族舞、舞劇等，曾赴泰國、日本、越南、澳洲、韓國演出，亦與歐洲、美國做藝術交流。
蔡瑞月一生舞蹈，從未間斷，她自述：「自小就極愛跳舞，我的身體總是不由自主地律動著，一股歡欣自內裡湧出。」高等女校畢業後，即主動教學生跳舞。在自日返台的船上，在白色恐怖的政治獄中，她都有創作及演出，可說一生沈迷地奉獻投入於舞蹈。
1998年獲頒澳大利亞昆士蘭科技大學大學博士學位，同年「台灣舞蹈的先知—蔡瑞月口述歷史」出版，2000年進行一連串的舞作重建工作，蔡瑞月是台灣舞蹈界的國寶。

我第一次聽到這個名字，是幾年前跳舞老師要去新舞台演出蔡老師的舊作，我們大家買票去看演出，那時候只知道她似乎是台灣舞蹈界的大老
後來湊巧看了公視的紀錄片"世紀女性。台灣風華"系列(http://www.pts.org.tw/~web01/females/p0.htm)，才知道蔡瑞月的一生如此地戲劇性，紀錄片中提到其舞蹈作品似乎都是以幾年前新舞台年輕舞者重新演出的錄影來呈現，我想是因為那場火災燒掉了大部分珍貴紀錄吧，如果妙子沒看過這些紀錄蔡瑞月的影片，雖然我只看過公視的這一集，但看完的感動現在很記得，在此推薦一下。
