2007 Bluney Cozy Xmas
It is a gathering, a cozy one, supposely.

This is the first time we have a gathering NOT at my place, so we spent the whole nite decorating the venue just to make sure it is full of xmas atmosphere while keeping the usual Bluney style - lots of candles to create a warm feeling.

We have some new faces this time - Angela & Evelyn from HSBC. Sherry is my old UBC Commerce parter from Citibank, and Xtine is from SC Johnson.

We also have some HSBC's 2007 MTs here. Jiny and Winnie. Well, Winnie is very good at drinking, whom is regarded as the successor of CJ~ LOL!

UBC's Michael and Western U.'s David, the CANADIAN GANG.

Fun Game #1 - TWISTER!! Thanks to CJ for providing us the toy. LOL.
It is extra fun when players are half drunk!

Fun Game #2 - This is an ice breaker game that we try out for the first time. Every guest will get a tag sticking behind their backs, which says a word or an action. If this person says that word or does that action during the night. He/she is punished with a Tequila shot~! This game gets really evil when everyone tries to trick other people to say that word or do that action...

Fun Game #3 - The Gift Exchange!! Yes, this is a MUST in xmas!!
Life is like these wrapped gifts, you never know what you'll get~! The worest thing of this game is, other people can steal the gift that you just got~! That makes the gift exchange part extra exciting~ :P

Look at people's faces when they open up their gifts... The smiles...
I mean... this is what xmas is all about. Happiness.

Once again... this is NOT a party. It is a gathering!!
I sincerely wish all of you who came had loads of fun (and lots of shots too).
Merry Christmas Everyone!!

(Don't you guys know I am turning 22 this year?)

(continue to work hard and play hard!?)

2007 HSBC Year End Party -
=================================
HSBC 2006 Year End Party
Year End Party
今年CIBM/CMB/PAT準備了超更厲害的超豪華表演...

Ko-Wei, Jasmine and I
RAU的同事Patty, Tina, and I
MT, Tony, me and Wilson
MT Chord.

"Work Super Hard & Play Super Hard"
The 2007 Bluney Halloween Party was such a great success to me
And I certianly hope you all enjoyed the night
Looking forward seeing you at the next party!
Jasmine.
Jack
David the Mexican, Jasmine, Gayle, and Jimmy
Hooter's Gril and her little bar
Other than those fancy costumes, singing and dancing is also an important part of this party!
And thanks to those who helped out to decorate the room... to make it more "Halloween".

Focus UBC: Tapiei - Why Are You Doing All These?
"So, why are you doing all these?" People usually ask.
And I would tilt my head and think a little bit, and smile, and say: "I don't know!"
I mean, seriously, sometimes I ask myself the same questions too: Why should I make troubles for myself by running this alumni thing and allocate so much of my time and my resources to do it? Plus I have to drag some of you good frineds into this mess. How many sundays we spent to have meetings on Starbucks, how many e-mail we sent back and forth to discuss alumni affairs, and how many time you have been asked by your friends - why are you doing this?

Running the alumni affairs is never easy to me, and definately not as easy as running a student club back in school. For the simplest fact, you do not have enough time because you are working now and you are working in the country with one of the longest average working hours in the world. And then comes to the quality and alumni's expectation on the events. You have limited time and helps to ensure every aspect of the event is perfect, so alumni come to the events and get disappointed and complain. Who cares if you are a free labor doing all these things out of your limited free time?
And I am damn sure that all the team members would like spend their night to sleep, not to discuss about events with me over the phone and they want to spend their holidays with their friends rathering then having meetings in Starbucks. I have no money to pay them and I have no fancy titles to give to them. They are the ones who really work behind all these great things we have done so far, but are less recognzied and rewarded.

Think I am carrying a little bit far... And, to be honest, humen are rational, we won't do something that I feel absolutely painful doing it, so there must be some sort of compensations involved with it. If I am to ask myself, what I get out of it, then the answers probably are: challenges, sense of accomplishment when events are successful, sense of joy when you see other alumni enjoying the event and they tell you they had fun, and last but not least, is definately the friends you make during the process.
Do they justify the efforts I put in? I guess so: the utility I get must be greater than the cost I spent from an economic poinof view, otherwise I wouldn't be doing it.

To me, the succession and the continuity of the alumni association, is far more important than the success of one single event. I can only hold on this task for another year the most, perhaps, and I have limited time to build a solid foundation and structure of this organization. The team is great and helpful, but still, it is a lonely journey that very limited people understand my mission in it. And these few months I am seriously caught at work that I do not even have time to have a decent sleep. I am tired and I need rest.
Yes, you know and I know... at very least, we gave it a shot, no matter what the result is. We did devote our passion and energy into this mission and it is worth a while if we ever look back after many years.
2008 is coming soon. And I pray, that we can give this organization a final push on to the right track so we can let if off our hands for the successors to run...
