Queen's Day in Taipei [30 Apr 2006]

Koniginnendag 2006 Never have I expected to be still a part of it this year. But, well, I was there, and surely we had some fun (though definitely nothing compared to the marvelous sight I saw in Utrecht, including canal-swimming and rooftop-dancing Dutchies).

Project H=L - I love to hate, and hate to love [23 Apr 2006]

愛臺北，就要從恨她開始Taking pictures of the places I live is the way I express my love for it (which passion, I admit, I owed a whole lot to Andy). I take pictures of blooming flowers, old buildings, funny signs and great mountain views, because they are nice, cool and I think can show the best of Taipei City, the place I'm 100% proud to be in.

a love story? think again!

Name a few love stories that I know: Romeo and Juliet, 梁山伯與祝英台, Tristan and Isolde, Porgy and Bess, Beauty and the Beast, Tom and Jerry... (oops, the last one isn't really a love story, is it?) What do these stories have in common? Is it that they more often than not have tragic endings? Maybe so, but I would like to point out that the titles are all spoilers.

Royal greetings digitalised

One day I read on the newspaper a fascinating piece of news about the Christmas message prepared by the Spanish Royal family. It’s not really about the message, actually; it’s the picture they attached to it, which has revealed their desperation to share their happiness with the world.

New Year's Eve

What’s to be celebrated about New Year's eve? Speaking of its physical attributes, the New Year’s Eve is neither longer nor shorter than a usual evening, the weather isn’t necessarily better, and it still occupies only one block on the calendar. The excitement comes today becomes into tomorrow, December becomes January, and 2005 becomes 2006—which all happened within a second.

Misplacement

Being out of place is just a feeling that comes all of a sudden, even when you are sure it’s the right time, you’re with the right people, and you are talking about the right topics. But the feeling just comes, like an unexpected guest knocking on your door, shouting, “Hey there! I’m coming in!” You didn’t have the time to drive him away; he is already sitting on the threshold, grinning.
