an one-of-a-kind concert [19 May 2006]
In the 2nd floor of the Nan-hai Gallery, equipments and materials scattered with a certain order in the space, adding to the busy atmosphere for the participants in the workshop.
Shin-Yi, Dagmar and Jolanda, a.k.a. ‘The Fanclub,’ who have agreed to give a improvised concert using fans and ventilators on the opening of the exhibition, were busy trying out different ways to compose with these pretty unusual musical instruments.
Though the rain brought by typhoon ‘Pearl’ never ceased while all these preparations took place, we had to, and actually did manage to put things together into pieces, hoping to stitch them up and fill them with meanings.
Opening of the exhibition
James and Pei brought us another nice surprise: a concert of percussion and computer recording, under the building, in the basement. The space created a threatening resonance and vibrations. Though the audience had to squat or stand, we were as awed as one can be in the most luxurious music hall.
