Fleaing to the market [14 May 2006]
We almost didn’t have enough time for the much-expected flea market under Fu-He Bridge, but we managed somehow. It was a really thrilling experience for both Taiwanese and Dutch students to see such a lively place, filled with what most people consider to be ‘junk,’ prompting the student to recycle interesting objects and give them lives again.
Ricardo had a special experience of seeing Taipei 101 from the flea market, and he thought it to be an interesting contrast that he was standing on the site where people look into piles of ‘garbage,’ while the tallest building thrusts itself onto the background. Which is out of place? The building? The market? Or us?
