Johnson's legal case is 1st up for Pacers

Anthony Johnson, one of five Indiana Pacers charged with misdemeanor assault and battery after the Nov. 19 brawl with fans during a game against the Detroit Pistons, is expected in district court in Rochester Hills, Mich., today for jury selection.

Johnson's trial is expected to start next week.

Jermaine O'Neal, Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson also are charged and will have pretrial hearings Sept. 23. A fifth Pacer, David Harrison, had his pretrial moved from Monday to early October, attorney Walter Piszczatowski said. Piszczatowski said Thursday that he hopes to have the pretrial hearing done before the Pacers open training camp Oct. 4.

小歐、阿泰、醜臉則在9/23接受審理。而第五位正是David Harrison，他的律師表是他的審理期是星期一至10月初，而且希望可以盡快在溜馬開季訓練營前完成這件事。

Artest, O'Neal and Jackson will go before Judge Julie Nicholson on Sept. 23. Formal charges are given, a plea can be entered and trial dates could be set during the pretrial.

The players may plead guilty, but that's unlikely because admitting guilt could be used in a civil lawsuit.

The penalty for each case is 93 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.

NEW YORK -- A charge against NBA forward Alan Henderson for allegedly taking an unlicensed gun to a New York airport was conditionally dropped Monday.

NBA前鋒Alan Henderson於星期一的時候在紐約機場被抓到持有非法槍械。

The weapon case will be adjourned for six months "in contemplation of dismissal," Queens district attorney's office spokeswoman Meris Campbell said.

皇后行政區主管的辦公室發言人說："持械的案例將會被禁止一切活動六個月來思考他們是否要撤銷訴訟。"

If Henderson commits no offenses, the charge will be dismissed. He also will have to pay a $500 fine and work 10 days of community service, Campbell said.

Henderson, a 10-year veteran from Indiana University, was arrested July 2 when he allegedly took a gun that was not licensed in New York to the John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Henderson, 32, played last season with the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 3.5 points per game.

NBA stars lift spirits of Katrina evacuees

HOUSTON -- Chris LaRoche doesn't have any clothes, toys or a place to go home to, but on Sunday the 12-year-old's dream came true when he played basketball against Cleveland's LeBron James, Minnesota's Kevin Garnett, Detroit's Chauncey Billups, Indiana's Ron Artest and a host of other NBA stars.

Chris LaRoche 他沒有衣服、玩具甚至也沒有家可歸，但是在星期天當他和King James、KG、Chauncey、以及其他NBA巨星一起打球時，他的願望實現了。

LaRoche and about 1,100 other Hurricane Katrina evacuees living in Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center got a morning visit from about a dozen NBA players in town for an evening charity game.

很多位的NBA球員在早上的時候到居民們休息的地方去拜訪Chris LaRoche以及其他因為颶風而撤退至休士頓的居民，而且這些球員也舉辦了慈善義演賽。

"I can't believe it," LaRoche said, a huge grin on his face. "I was guarding LeBron. It was so crazy."

LaRoche很開心的說："我真是不敢相信，我要防守LeBron James，這真是太帥了！"

James and the other players spent about 90 minutes playing with kids, signing autographs and greeting fans.

James跟其他的球員跟小朋友們玩耍了大概一個半鐘頭，以及簽名跟球迷同樂。

"Hopefully we can put some smiles on their faces and maybe for just that little moment they cannot think about what happened," James said.

James說："希望我們可以為他們帶來笑容，而且可以讓他們暫時的忘卻了之前所發生的事情。"

TNT basketball analyst Kenny Smith organized the game, played at the Toyota Center before a packed crowd that included at least 5,000 evacuees who were given tickets. Smith said each of the almost 30 players participating in the event donated a minimum of $10,000 in money or supplies to the relief effort.

Other players participating in or attending the game included Houston's Tracy McGrady, Miami's Dwyane Wade, Houston's Steve Francis, Denver's Carmelo Anthony and Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal. The West won the game 114-95.

其他參加或是出席的球員還有火箭的T-mac、熱火的Wade、魔術的SF3、金塊的Anthnoy和溜馬的小歐等等。而最後西區隊以114比95的成績獲勝。

距離preseason愈來愈近了，最近各隊也都即將開始他們的季前訓練營，而Pacers的季前訓練營大約是在10月初（其實有點晚耶XD)。不過這也是溜馬的優勢，因為溜馬在今年的free agent市場中，失去了Dale Davis、James Jones、以及我們永遠的leader Reggie Miller；還好的是補進了歐洲最佳球員的Sarunas Jasikevicius、以及大學時代備受好評的Danny Granger，此外，最好的消息就是去年禁賽整季的阿泰、受傷兩年的Bender都回來了。
在走了Dale之後，籃下出現了一些漏洞，現在球隊中內線球員有：Foster、Harrison、Pollard、Croshere以及小歐。除了小歐這個不動人選之外，下一季的先發C，應該是由前兩個的其中一個人扛，因為後面兩個是替補的料，所以我們來比較一下這兩個可能人選吧；

David Harrsion 7呎 280磅
是現在許多專家公認，極有可能會是下一個俠客的身段，是溜馬再去年第一輪29順位選到的大個子，這個狂爆的小伙子，在剛進NBA的時候就發下豪語，要打進All Star Game！ 然而，人算不如天算，去年的他好不容易可以在奧本山事件後大放異彩，結果才先發14場就受傷休養去了，更甭提什麼明星賽了= =||| 不過在主力球員禁賽之間，他的表現也真的讓大家相信他是個強力中鋒，中鋒該做的事情，他都做的不錯，雖然他去年後來就沒什麼出賽了，但是大家都相信，今年歸隊的他，會繳出漂亮的成績單。而在summer league中，更是在14分鐘之內狂吃了今年的公鹿狀元Andrew Bogut16分；只不過現在的他，的確跟當年的俠客一樣，脾氣需要控制一下，他的吃T密集度實在不輸給以前的Raheed Wallace = =，脾氣不控制的話，以Carlisle的帶隊方式，除非你控制你的脾氣，不然就別想上場！ 這從幾年前阿泰剛來到溜馬的時候，常常被卡帥罰板凳就知道了。

Jeff Foster 6呎11 242磅
「為籃板球而生的男人」這句話在每個時代都有他該屬於的對象，以前有Rodman、Barkley、近年來有Ben Wallace、而去年就是Foster了。他去年幹了什麼事情？相信活塞迷都記憶猶新吧，他在PlayOff 第二輪對上活塞的第二場比賽，抓下了20個籃板球，感覺是很強，但是沒有什麼特別要提的吧？ 可怕的是這20個裡面有10個是進攻籃板，而這場比賽，活塞全隊加起來也只有10個進攻籃板。 Foster不是一名得分好手，但是他跟Dale Davis一樣，籃下的所有髒工作他都做，是一名稱職的綠葉球員，而且爆發力不錯的Foster，因為體型上有劣勢，所以抓籃板的時候不會單單靠他的爆發力，還靠頭腦，這也是白人中鋒都有的特點。而Foster的缺點就跟我前面說的一樣，對於大隻佬的對抗度比較不行，季前訓練的時候，我想卡帥應該會加強他的這個弱點。

就前面的評估看下來，我認為卡帥在現階段應該還是會讓Foster打先發C，因為他有經驗、他脾氣不衝、不擅得分、防守不錯，因為內線得分現在Pacers主打的是小歐同學，所以說需要一個在籃下肯拼肯搶，髒工作做盡，只為成就另一人的得分的人，所以Foster會是最佳人選，可是有一個不確定因子就是Foster的傷勢，去年因為他受傷，所以本來很多場是先發的，由於傷勢不允許，所以只能打候補上去少少的時間插個花而已，隊醫是說球隊中大家的傷都好的可以打球了，但是會不會復發沒有人可以肯定，只能希望今年上帝可以保佑Pacers了，別再跟去年一樣衰了。

Pacers' Bender leads drive for relief

Basketball can wait. Survivors of Hurricane Katrina can't.

籃球是可以等待的東西，但是卡崔娜颶風卻不是。
（這句話蠻有意義的）

That was Jonathan Bender's message Wednesday as the Indiana Pacers forward helped load trucks with supplies to take to his hometown of Picayune, Miss.

這段話正是印第安那溜馬的前鋒Bender的一段訊息，而他也幫忙了裝載卡車的救援物資深入他的家鄉Picayune，也是災區的其中一個地方。

"This has basically been my life since it happened," said Bender, who thanked people as they dropped off supplies at Greenwood Park Mall, Lafayette Square Mall and Conseco Fieldhouse. "I was looking at my hometown and hearing people talk about how bad it is down there. I can't let people suffer down there. I dribbled the ball in those neighborhoods growing up. I had to do something and put responsibility on my back and take charge."

Bender說："自從這個事件發生後，我從我的生活最根本做起。"他非常感謝把救援補給送到這三個地方(Greenwood Park Mall, Lafayette Square Mall and Conseco Fieldhouse)的所有人。"我看到我著家鄉、聽著人們述說著慘況，我不能讓大家在那裡繼續承受著苦難，我從會運球開始在這附近長大的，我必須做些什麼、盡些責任。"

Members of the Pacers' organization, along with Bender's sister, Valerie McDowell, and his chef, Derrick Franklin, helped load trucks. Donors received free tickets to tonight's Indiana Fever playoff game. Supplies such as water and diapers can be dropped off at the three locations through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

溜馬的組織成員與Bender的姊姊等等的人，大家一起幫忙裝載救援卡車。捐贈者則可以得到正殺的如火如荼的WNBA季後賽門票。而一些物品也在星期五的早上八點至晚上七點送抵上面的三個地方。

Bender has rented six, two-bedroom apartments in Indianapolis for about 20 family members.

"Everybody is calling me and telling me they don't have a home," he said. "Everybody has nothing. When your money runs out at the hotel, you're stuck. What do you do? You call the friend you have. I have to help these people."

他說"大家打電話給他跟他說他們沒有了家，什麼東西都沒了，當你的錢在旅館用完了，你就真的被困在那了，這個時候你會怎麼做？打給你的朋友，所以我必須幫助這些人。"

Bender plans to go to Mississippi and New Orleans to check on his offseason home before going to Houston to work with his personal trainer in preparation for training camp, which opens in early October.

Bender在跟他的個人訓練師準備去休士頓的訓練營之前，計劃先去密西西州週跟紐奧良勘查他offseason的家，而這個訓練營在10月初就要開始了。

"(This) made me have another outlook on life," he said. "I don't take a lot of things for granted, like ice and water."

他說:"這個事件讓我有了一些的啟示，我不會帶很多大家都同意送的東西，像是冰塊跟水。"

不過Bender真的也蠻讓人感動的...最後那段話也蠻耐人尋味的..因為大家都送同樣的東西，都不知道真正災民們需要的是什麼，因為他家在那裡，所以他知道，真的還蠻中肯的XD
