久違了的張德培，今日(1/24)傳出獲選進入網球名人堂的好消息。聯合晚報有如下報導：

…當年張德培在第4輪5盤大戰擊敗當時球王藍道，更是令人難忘的經典戰役，他不顧腳已抽筋，奮力上網截球的身影，以拚勁和鬥志讓只有175公分的自己成為球場巨人。張德培在決賽擊敗艾柏格拿到冠軍。(張德培 入選網球名人堂/記者倪婉君/綜合報導)

張德培「上網截球」？遍查此則報導的相關新聞來源，如美聯社(AP)：

明顯地，兩大國際媒體對張德培1989年巴黎驚奇之旅的敘述大同小異，尤其對藍道那場球，為人所津津樂道的，不外乎張德培的腳傷和業餘選手採用的下手發球(underhand serve)，只是教人難以揣測的是，聯合晚報為何捨此而採「他不顧腳已抽筋，奮力上網截球」之說，究竟是記者誤譯，或另有所本？

張德培基本上是屬於底線型(baseliner)而非上網型(volleyer)球員，專長在於底線抽球(groundstroke)，雖然，他也偶爾會有回擊後隨球上網(hit an approach shot)的佳作，但球速較慢的法網賽紅土(clay)球場，畢竟不適合上網(因此，發球上網型如球王山普拉斯始終無法在此地摘冠)。張德培優點很多，例如迅速移位，再加上奮戰不懈，彌補了缺乏上網技巧的缺憾，正如阿格西在張德培退休前夕所言：「我會懷念他為每一分奮戰的腳步…不管您如何用力殺球，他就是有辦法回擊，他永遠不願意放棄任何機會。」(He's a respectable competitor, and I'll miss his swift steps for every score; no matter how you smack the ball, he simply can find a way to send it back; he never gives up any chance)。但是，如果將非屬張德培的「上網截球(擊)」強項(strength)加諸於他身上，不正如同強調王建民的高三振率一樣地荒謬？張德培非但未獲得適切的評價，對於Michael的球迷，也不盡公允。
