I wrote this on last Sunday so you might think the time is a ltiile bit confusing.
I think this will be the last time I use Internet in Uganda. I will leave this country on 11/16 and stay in Dubai for three days. After that, I will go to Hong Kong to meet my family. We are going to have a family vacation!!!
I am very glad that some of you received the postcards I sent. I have to say sorry to those who didn’t receive it. Maybe I don’t have your address or I think you have already moved out from the original place. But I brought some art crafts, hope that will be enough for all of my friends.
Anyway, among these postcards I sent, one was for myself. After this year of traveling and volunteering, I get some lessons and experiences that I want to write it down and keep it for reminding me. I thought, why not write a postcard to myself and put all those words in it? So, I spent a whole afternoon to think about what I had been through and what I had got from it. For example, one of those is “Always fasten the seatbelt after you get in a car!” I think you all know that I had a bad car accident when I was in Australia and that’s something I learned from it. Of course, there were a lot of different things I wrote down to notice myself and I am willing to share it with you; but I hope you also have the opportunity to get those experiences by yourself through traveling.
I will leave these lovely kids next Tuesday and I believe that I will cry like a baby at that moment. This week I taught drawing from P1 to P4. They loved it. I asked P1 to draw me, P2 to draw their traditional wearing and P3 to draw what they want to be in the future. They had done amazing jobs. On this Tuesday, I will ask P4 to draw one of the former volunteers. I am the No. 10 and jaja (local language as grandmother) Sami is the 11th. I hope after they finish it, I can send those works to the person whom they drew.
One thing you all know is that the Internet here is very slow. I can hardly find anything on the Internet. So, I want to ask you guys for a favor. If you had spare time, please find some travel information (like where I can eat, where I should visit and what I must to do) about Dubai for me. You can send those to my email address ilavm5207@msn.com and that will do me a lot of favor when I visit Dubai.
The rest of days I stay in Uganda I will go to Jinja, where the source of Nile is. I don’t have enough money to do rafting but I think I will go to the craft market and buy some presents. After that, maybe I will visit Lake Victoria and the Zoo in Entebbe or go to Kampala to take some pictures.
My flight back to Taiwan will be on 11/24 at 10:30 pm. I might meet some friends in the airport and go directly to Taipei and enjoy a nice dinner. I don’t know, depend on how tight the friendship is between they and I. Ha Ha! I am just planning but I really miss foods in Taiwan, even some trash foods. I hope the weather won’t be too cold cuz I didn’t bring long sleeves clothes with me. But if it is a cold day, it will be nice to eat Hot pot. Man! I can’t wait for it.
This year means a lot to me. I am glad that I made the decision to go to Australia and come to Africa/Uganda. I will keep traveling in the future and I think, in my whole life. I also encourage all my friends to do the same thing. Sometimes, we should jump out of the life and environment we are used to and go experience and feel different people, cultures, traditions and most of all, point of views.
