After picking nectarine, I came back to Fabio’s farm and do the old same work, fix the pipes. I really like to work in this farm because 1. It is a very easy job. The only thing I have to do was preventing from fall asleep when I drive Kubota. 2. The pay is pretty good and the tax is pretty low. 3. There are no one supervises us when we are working and that means we can decide when to take a rest and how long we want to take. For above reasons, I consider this job is the best job I have ever done in Manjimup.

Like what I said, there is nothing to do when you come back from work. Fortunately I bring my laptop with me and I think this is one of the best decision I had made when I prepare the stuffs which I wanted to bring to Australia. With laptop, you can arrange the photos, listen to the music and put it in the MP3 so that you can also listen to some music when you are working, the other thing is that you can watch the movies and American series.

I am now fascinated and addicted to an American series called Prison Break (越獄風雲). This story line is about a guy who wants to break the prison and bring his brother, who was sentenced to death because of been set up killing the brother of America’s vice president, out of the prison. This story is so exciting and I couldn’t help but keep watching it. I watched 4 or 5 episodes a day and sometimes I even watched it until midnight.

This week there were three Taiwanese girls living. One of them will go back to Taiwan and the other two will keep their travel in Australia. We had a very big party for them. Each of us had to prepare one dish for the dinner. I cooked a soup according to my own recipe. I called it Pumpkin corn cream soup. It is very easy to make. First, prepare four potatoes and smash them after cook in the boil water. Then, empty the water and add milk and butter in the mashed potato and stir it. Third, open the pumpkin soup and corn cream cans and add it into the pot and stir it again. Fourth, add mushroom and broccoli. Fifth and the last step, add black pepper, sugar and salt.

All of us prepare 25 dishes that night. That was a very delicious meal. We crowded around the table and move in a circle in order to eat all the meals. Not only Taiwanese but also some Japanese joined the beautiful night. We drank beer and wine after we finished it. We also took lot of photos at that night. At this time, there were 19 Taiwanese in this hostel and only five of them are male.

It is a very interesting phenomenon. Most of the Taiwanese who hold the Working Holiday Visa and come to Australia are girl. Only a few guys do the same thing. Not like Taiwanese, most of the Korean I met in Australia are boy. It is totally contrary to Taiwan. When it comes to Japanese, I’ll say half of them are boy and half are girl. It is like spectrum; in the two sides are Taiwanese and Korean whilst Japanese is in the middle.

I never asked any Korean or Japanese about this phenomenon I discovered. I think maybe it is only in this hostel because I didn’t go to many place so I am not sure whether it is just like what I think. But I am sure that Taiwanese girls are more than boys. Is that because recently in Taiwan girls become braver to explore the world or it is because boys are still constrained by the traditional thought that men should have a good job and form a family before 30 years old. No matter which one is true, I am very happy that my family supports me for this trip. My parent encouraged me after I told them my plan. My father was happy that I have a chance to improve my English skill and become independence. My mother is just that any other mother, worry about their child. In order to let my parent and my friends know my life in Australia, I applied for a blog space. Though my blog, not only my parent and my friends can notice my information but I also can contact with them.
