12/16
I had an easy section today and I finished it within one hour. After today, I only have to work for another two days but that also means the leaving date is getting closer.
Yahoo! The other thing that worth for celebrate was I finished the last library book when I waited for the bus. I will borrow another book tomorrow and try to finish it before I leave Exmouth.
Our plan now is leaving Exmouth on Saturday and goes to Coral Bay. We will spent one day in Coral Bay and find a backpacker to stay for one night in Carnarvon. Then we will drive back to Perth directly and stay at Damian’s mom’s place. After that, Natalie will return to Sydney and I will stay with Damian in his place for couple of days. He said he could show us around Perth and his university. He also said that he would help me to find some information for the second hand car. Mike also wanted to help me buying a car. Sharon said mike likes cars and he knows a lot about cars. That’s great! Actually I know nothing about cars. It’s great that Mike can teach me some skills to fix the car or how to choose a good used car. I think I will visit Mike and Sharon when I stay in Perth after I say good-bye to Damian. They said they have a spare room for me. Excellent!!
I didn’t have a car back in Taiwan. I only have a 125 cc scooter. In Taiwan, you have to spend lots of money to buy a car and pay lots of money for taxes and gosling fee. The worst thing is, you can hardly find a parking space in big city such as Taipei. So it is good and convenient to ride a scooter in Taiwan. Most of the boys will have a scooter when they enter into university. It is essential. If you want to hook up with girls, you must to have a scooter.
Traffic in Taipei is bad. I think if you can ride a scooter in Taipei, you can ride a scooter everywhere in the world. You need skills to survive from the taxis, buses, cars and other riders.
I am excited about having the first car in my life. My budget is 1500 to 2000. Mike suggested me to buy a manual car. He said it is cheaper and use less fuel. At first, I wanted to buy an automatic car because I thought that will be easier for me to drive. In Australia, people sit in the right side and drive at left side while in Taiwan is totally contrary. Although I have a manual driving license, it is hard for me to image using my left hand to control the gear. Mike told me that since I get a manual car, I would get used to it easily. I think that Australia is such a big country; it is hard for me to hurt someone on the road when I practice driving. Maybe I would only kill some poor emus and kangaroos!!
Here came the group 2. Most of the volunteer in group 2 are girls. I originally wanted to join group 2 because I recognized I need one month to get used to the life in Australia but it was not available. Tristan told me it already full so he had moved me to group 4. Unfortunately, group 4 was also full so that’s why I stayed in group 1. Chinese people are superstitious and they believe in destiny. I think it is my destiny to meet those guys in group 1. They gave me a lot of help when I stay in Exmouth. I feel I am so lucky!!!
One of the volunteer in group 2 is from Hong Kong. His name is Ross. He said he had seen my blog before. He said he search ‘Exmouth’ on the Internet and found my blog. (Is there anybody I don’t know and reading my blog now? If you can leave your message, that will be great! ) He stayed and worked in Perth for three mouths. He even stayed in the same hostel as me. I am happy to have someone to chat in mandarin but I told him he should talk to others and practice his English. Don’t let the opportunity skip away. The most incredible thing was that there is a girl major in mandarin in university; she could speak correct mandarin. Honestly, her pronunciation is better than Ross. Ha!
