I lost my contact lens. It was terrible. Although I have a spare one, it still frustrated me. It seems to have vaporized on the ground. I couldn’t find it after I put the other lens in. It was really not my day. Damn it.
I was sad when we headed to Turquoise Bay. The weather was not good; there were clouds in the sky. The visibility must be bad underwater. I also felt a little cold so I decided to sunbathe on the beach.
There are two different sides of Turquoise Bay; one of them has an attractive white beach and blue water which is good for swimming and sunbathing whilst the other side has beautiful coral and strong current and is good for snorkeling. When we arrived, I took out my towel and lay on it. I read the book that I borrowed from the library. Everyone went snorkeling.
When they came back, Damian told me he saw a turtle and reef sharks. They encouraged me to give it a try. Genai lent her snorkel and flippers to me. With that, I could swim against the current and saw the beautiful fishes swim freely in the water. Damian leaded Nat and I to explore the magnificent underwater life. When we swam toward the reef, the sun came out from the clouds. Thanks god. The visibility became great.
There were lots of coral in the water. They were colorful and varied. There were schools of fluorescent fishes eating and playing between corals. They seemed unafraid of human as if we were one of them. Suddenly, a turtle appeared. It swam elegantly in front of us. It was not mature because it was only 45 cm long. We followed it through the current. When it used its front flippers, it looked like it was flying in the water. Maybe it was a young turtle, as it also was not afraid of us. I was so close to it. I almost could touch it. We watched it eating the sea grass under the coral and wandering in the water. It was a really unbelievable experience.
The most incredible thing was I saw shark!!! A real, moving shark!!! I estimated that it might be 150 cm long. The current was very strong and I thought it might be time for us to return to the shore. I saw a shark in the middle of shore and I. I thought it might not be correct to swim back to the shore. I didn’t want to be a nice meal for the shark!!! I would rather stick together with Damian and Nat than came back to the shore by myself. I didn’t think I am lucky enough today.
After I returned to the shore safely, I decided to buy a snorkeling gear for myself. Although it would cost me 60 dollars, I thought that it is definitely the most important thing I need when I stay in Exmouth.
