Never Understand

我在加完油準備付帳的時候想到了這首歌，應該說是想到了這首歌的MV，「 By and by，John the Revelator ！」，不知不覺就順口唱了出來，果然被加油小妹瞪了一眼，我時常這樣沒事亂唱歌，不好意思為身邊的人帶來困擾了。

Depeche Mode在2005的回歸作Play With Angels讓DM迷聽得非常開心，很高興他們又重回那種激化電氣黏乎乎暗明矇的風格，Martin寫歌能力又重回正軌，整張的旋律性相當不錯，之後狂發的單曲也都是80年代存活下來的同輩中，水準最高的一個，雖然我很想念Alan Wilder，但似乎也漸漸地習慣了沒有他的歲月。Dave依然賣肉猛男路線，Martin一樣走可愛男孩路線，那隻長人依舊跳拍手舞順便數錢，看慣了悲歡離合分崩離析，對於這樣優異的回歸作真的只能用感動萬分來形容，至於他們能不能在推出突破的作品，相信已經不會有人在意了，他們能聚在一起對於樂迷來說就是一種無上的Blast。

當然從專輯封面到內頁，還有單曲的藝術設計相當可怕醜陋還是小小地讓粉絲嘀咕了一下，不過基本上還是音樂的內容物比較重要。

專輯中我最喜歡的歌當然是號稱Enjoy the Silence姊妹作的Precious，排名第二的就是這首 John the Revelator。當時邊聽邊看歌詞的時候，就想到不知道這首歌是不是在諷刺某個人的作品，等到看到單曲MV果然印證了我的猜測，姑且把這首歌的政治意圖撇在一邊，其實從這首歌可以看得出Martin和Dave兩人的合作無間，Dave把這首有點小歌德味道的歌唱得非常Sexy，不看歌詞絕對聽不出來是首有政治意含的抗議諷刺歌曲，至於裡頭的批判諷刺，相信有理智的人都會跟他們站在同一邊。
