Kiss My Name – Antony & The Johnsons




“The Crying Light” is the highly anticipated full-length follow-up to ‘I Am a Bird Now’. Here, Antony shifts the thematic focus and explores his relationship with the natural world. The intimacy of the Johnsons’ sound is enveloped by avant-classical composer Nico Muhly’s symphonic arrangements.

曾經以專輯『I Am A Bird Now』奪下二ＯＯ五年Mercury Music Prize大獎的紐約樂隊Antony & The Johnsons，在創作核心與歌手Antony Hegarty的帶領下，繼去年EP唱片『Another World』後的第三張大碟定名為『The Crying Light』。過往經常只聞其名而不見其人的Antony Hegarty，近日內陸續躍上了Wire、Plan B、Spex、Rumore等雜誌的封面人物，並於接受媒體採訪時提及新專輯受到前衛古典作曲家Nico Muhly影響，一方面保留了『Another World』的鋼琴Ballad骨幹，另一方面也植入了更多優揚弦樂伴奏與幽悒陰鬱的古樸樂風。以往經常被拿來比擬Tindersticks主唱Stuart Staples以降最渾厚、磁性嗓音的Antony Hegarty，也在專輯中展示了他千變萬化的創作才華及歌唱技巧，遊走於Avant-Classical、Blues、Hard Bop Jazz與Gospel之間；專輯封面創意持續浮現日本舞踏舞蹈家Kazuo Ohno的身影。
