The main research project currently proposed by AusAnthrop is in
relation to the Western Desert of Australia, and Aboriginal Australia
in general.
This project is interested in historical and contemporary aspects of

groups in this more than 600 000 km2 wide area of Australia.

基本上，莊英章先生所出版的有關於六家地區的兩本專書《家族與婚姻：臺灣北部兩個閩客村落之研究》（1994，中央研究院民族所），以及《田野與書齋之
間：史學與人類學匯流的臺灣研究》（2004，台北市：允晨文化），都已經將六家（特別是指狹義的六家村）清末到日治期間的文獻，針對宗族、信仰、婚姻的
範疇，有極為豐富的整理與分析。但或許因為我曾經在2000-01年執行過「大家來寫村史--美濃鎮龍肚庄」的計畫，而該計畫也完成了一部《大家來寫龍肚
庄誌》，所以在文獻回顧的同時，我比較會務實地看這些資料可能可以怎樣「被展示」。』

culture)一書中，引用韋伯的觀點說「人類是一種將自己置於自身所編織的意義之網上的動物。」這裡的「意義之網」就是文化。而人文科學所從事的是意
義的詮釋，而非尋找法則的經驗科學。因此，受到他的啟發的研究取向，多半從人的經驗、行為出發，進行一種細緻的理解與觀察，以自己的文化來「轉譯」該文
