Hotel manager Paul Rusesabagina has been called the "Oskar Schindler of Africa" for his actions during the Rwandan genocide of 1994. Confronting killers with a combination of diplomacy, flattery, and deception, he managed to quietly shelter more than 1,200 hunted members of the Tutsi clan and Hutu moderates while homicidal mobs raged outside with machetes. Thanks to the Oscar-nominated movie Hotel Rwanda, Rusesabagina has become the most prominent publica face - and nearly the only recognized hero - of that bloody conflict.

His autobiography will explore the inner life of the man in a way the movie could not. Rusesabagina will discuss the racial complexity within his own life - he is a Hutu married to a Tutsi - and his complete estrangement from the madness that surrounded him during the genocide.
