The Remote Viewer - (2005) Let Your Heart Draw A Line
今年獨立電子(indietronica)最好的專輯之一。
The Remote Viewer由Craig Tattersall與Andrew Johnson組成，原是英國後搖滾樂隊Hood的原始團員，離開Hood之後，經歷了The Famous Boyfriend、The Boats的改組轉折，足跡觸角與人際網絡遍及英國獨立音樂圈，曾幫Mogwai完成了經典專輯「Rock Action」(2001)。尤其是與Stewart Anderson和Nicola Hodgkinson結識，藉此吸取了Sarah廠Boyracer與555廠Empress的精髓。
The Remote Viewer巧妙融合IDM實驗電子、後搖滾人文氣息、花草民謠甜美旋律等元素，折衷多元，兼容並蓄，越來越有著Piano Magic般的神奇魔力，我認為這張比前作「Here I Go Again On My Own」(2002)好很多，整張專輯電子取樣成分降低，提升了歌聲、鋼琴與吉他的比重，主題仍是失落、難以追尋的愛情。
比起許多漫無邊際，長篇累牘的後搖滾爆炸，輕巧的獨立電子更擅長抓住瞬間當下的感覺，「Let Your Heart Draw A Line」每一首曲目標題取得極好，可以漸漸整合出心中的景色。Empress女主唱Nicola Hodgkinson低抑淺唱的三首曲子令人動容，"Sometimes You Can't Decide"如日本古樂般遙遠而又熟悉之感，"Take Your Lights With You"、"I'm Sad Feeling"飄浮朦朧，發自全身的倦意，與其說是深沈的悲傷，不如說是不死心的期待。
