Ken Downie、Ed Handley、Andy Turner組成的The Black Dog，是英國電子音樂九０年代至今最重要組合之一，早期保有較深的舞曲節奏，音色與旋律層次豐富。日後，Ed Handley與Andy Turner改組為Plaid，而Ken Downie堅守的The Black Dog也經過多次成員更動。

1993年Warp廠Artificial Intelligence serie第三張，Black Dog Productions的「Bytes」則是三個人使用不同化名，"偽裝""成以合輯的形式，各種排列組合也夠讓人眼花撩亂的。這張不但是黑狗幫最輝煌時 期之作，也是IDM經典中的經典，

Xeper、Close Up Over、I.A.O是Ken Downie。
Discordian Popes、Balil是Ed Hanley。
Atypic、Tura是Andy Turner。
Plaid是Turner加上Hanley。
The Black Dog是Downie、Tuner、Hanley三人。

整張專輯有一種催眠與狂喜，融合了當時難以想像可以共處的ambient、house、techno等元素，停留腦際的節奏與旋律，聽起來好像每首都一樣，但他們似乎就是刻意試圖造成這種印象，讓聽者在反覆聆聽之後，隨著各自的情緒與感受找出細微差異。
