Potluck

今天是 Sonny 的生日,我們準備了 suprise potluck party 為他慶祝。
之前大家就在討論要帶什麼菜,有的負責主食,有的負責沙拉,
還有甜點,飲料,叉子,盤子,杯子.......。
實在不太想煮,於是幾位同事湊錢買中式餐點。

在台灣應該吃不到這道中式雞肉沙拉,我也是在美國才知道中國菜居然有沙拉?
一般的生菜沙拉加上雞胸肉,灑上炸麵條,簡單的用油醋調味。

這是我最喜歡吃的菲律賓炒米粉,因為是同事自己炒的,料多又實在。
放很多配料像包心菜,紅蘿蔔,雞蛋,肉絲,香腸,蝦仁,算是豪華版的Pencit 。
雖然都是炒米粉,不知道放了什麼調味料,吃起來味道就是不同。
吃時擠上一旁的檸檬調味,我不太能吃酸,就直接吃。

豬肉及一些香料一起煮,今天是另一位同事煮的,比較不油膩可是有點鹹,
因為菜色很多,另一道 Chicken Adobo (油膩版的) 明天續攤時才會出現。

剛開始我以為這是港式餐廳的椒鹽鮮魷,就拿了兩塊來吃,香香的脆脆的,
另一位同事也吃的津津有味,於是就問這是什麼?原來是油炸豬皮。(笑)

干扁四季豆,時菜班球,洋芥藍牛肉和醬油雞一隻,附上白飯和例湯(排骨霸王花湯)。

這也是同事自己做的,非常好吃,有點像加了椰奶和椰肉絲的糯米糕,可是沒有那麼黏。

Chinese chicken salad...LOL...

A couple years ago when I told my mother-in-law chicken salad isn\\\'t the “REAL” Chinese food, she was shock… That\\\'s the only “Chinese” dish she likes and knows how to order in a Chinese restaurant.

Another interesting story was my sister-in-law presumed Chinese always have fortune cookies as the desert. (She grew up in bay area and lives in a city over 50% of the population are Chinese!) One day she asked me how to make them… :-(

I had to tell her that fortune cookie was invented in San Francisco a century ago. She even didn\'t believe me at first…

There is a Chinese chicken salad package for people to make it at home.
My coworker bought that package and mixed it just before lunch.

People will like the "REAL" Chinese food after some training.
