瑞秋．卡森（Rachel Carson, 1907-1964）是生物學家，也是《寂靜的春天》的作者，也是二十世紀環保運動的先驅。
她以一人之力，力抗生產DTT及殺蟲劑的財團，在美國引起極大的討論，最後甚至促成美國政府成立「環境保護署」。

《Time》也選Rachel Carson為 Time's 100 Most Influential People of the Century，並評論道：Before there was an environmental movement, there was one brave woman and her very brave book.


Rachel Carson （終生未婚）傳聞中的同志情人是 Dorothy Freeman（已婚），不過，在 Carson 去世後，Dorothy Freeman消毀了上百封她們往來的信件。
儘管如此，遺留下來的信件仍然在1996年被出版成書：Always, Rachel: The Letters of Rachel Carson and Dorothy Freeman, 1952-1964 - The Story of a Remarkable Friendship.
該書的編輯是Martha Freeman， 也就是Dorothy Freeman的孫女。

Rachel Carson曾經被翻成中文的出版品有：《寂靜的春天》、《大藍海洋》、《驚奇之心》，以及由他人撰寫的《瑞秋．卡森傳》。
