嗨,老師!
I\'d like to make an enquiry about how Elizabeth I\'s intention (in general) is discussed in your article. I am aware of the use of such an approach (historical?) into a historical figure in English politics. (For example, you wrote: 她善用「童貞女王」的身份,使國內外貴族世家都覺得有希望入主英國,吊足所有人的胃口。 I am aware this is a well-known \'understanding\' of one aspect of the queen, which relates her private life to political matters of her age. I just wonder if it isn\'t in any way problematic? to claim such certainty about the queen\'s intention? To what extent does this claim or assumption carry credibility? I read that the queen wrote her own speeches so, perhaps there are evidences in those speeches?)
Then, about the relation between Elizabeth I\'s reign or \'queenship\' (?) and the development of theatrical art of that age, again, I am not sure how it is explained/interpreted about the direct influence of the queen\'s \'performance\' of the reign on theatre industry. What is the definition of this kind of performance of the queen? and how much of its influence is ever intentional? Is the definition of such a performance close to the one of Richard II in Shakespeare\'s play? I have no problem understanding it in the play\'s context, but I am not sure about drawing a wider historical context in which to explore this same issue.
Please do point out if you think I am mixing up two unrelated issues.
Looking forward to more discussions.
For the queen, 'To be Queen' and 'to act as Queen' are identical. I am aware of the danger of over-simplifying the issue, but, for me, within such a framework an understanding of the queen's performance (of the queen) starts to emerge.

I am not sure if I got what you meant.
Can one distinguish being from acting?
Can one tell the difference between "to be"
and "to seem"?
One can, and one cannot.
Some people think they are something,
but they may find they just appear
to be something (or somebody).
So being and acting can be identical sometimes;
sometimes they are different.
It depends on how one thinks of it, or sees it,
or how one poses it.
So decide for yourself which one you like.
Or,
read some Stephen Greenblatt and others
(some at UPenn) and Judith Butler for your
education, or Lacan, or writings concerning
anthropology of performance.
I think you must have known that in contemporary
thoughts the idea of "essense" has been
interrogated and "essence" is considered just
a moment in becoming or acting.
「因此,很肯定告訴你們,雖然我死後,你們會有很多繼任的女主人,
但絕對不會有人比我對你們更像媽了。」
And so I assure you all that though after my death you may have
many stepdames, yet shall you never have any a more mother than
I mean to be unto you all.
