Discussion Board
Having noticed that under the message of [The Founder], of our Chinese site, people have responded with quite a few valuable experiences and knowledge which are worthy of revisiting and discussing. If you feel it is accessible, why don't we adapt this feeback space as the discussion board of the blog? Hope you can come often and have a chat about sounds!

Radio Day of European Cultures 2005
Europe has this Radio Day across the whole continent. On 16 Oct, stations of different countries will present themes about their cultures. This is a very good idea! Perhaps Taiwan can invite radio stations to do something like this, too.
Call for Works
A few opportunities for you:
Sound Cafe is calling for works. If you have any field recordings, consider for the submission!
Leonardo Music Journal (2006) is calling for papers. Got any article ready?
Good luck!

The Experience of Nature is not only visual
The Executive Summary of the 1994 NPS Report to Congress provides the results of a system-wide visitor survey. 15,000
visitors were surveyed during the busiest 2 months of the season at 39 parks across the country. Approximately 91 per cent of the visitors reported that their reason for the park visit was to enjoy the “natural quiet. (National Park Service.1994)
When you... see something you don't like, you can ask the brain to close eyes to avoid it
But you listen to some irritating sounds, can you ask the brain to close your ears?

Sounds before birth
Can you still remember sounds you hear before you were born?
Listen to the sounds reconstructed by Charles Morrow and Bruce Miller. They are pretty interesting!
The website is taken from this site:

There are some other sound examples to listen. Don't forget to wear the headphone!

Keyboard spy
This is very scary: These researchers can detect your typed text by analysing the tapping sounds of your keyboard!
Sooner or later, when people are more aware of sounds around them, we, the field recordists will have difficulties in micing around the public environment! ha-ha! ^_^

Sounds of MIT
A group of MIT researchers who engage in different kinds of freqency have been collaborating to present a huge sound installations. Imagine that if one business building in Taiwan can have such an installation, and speakers play back sounds of business people's offices, then the building would not be as dull as its concrete appearance! Of course, the played back sounds are better to be selected so the work can be more 'beautiful', such as the sounds of stars that MIT researchers do!
Perhaps matching the installations with lighting installations which many big business buildings have had can be interesting, too. For example, the night-turned-colourful building in the intersection between Jian-Kwo North Road and Ming-Chuen East Road in Taipei! Is anyone interested? Perhaps we should collaborate and realise it! ^_^
