上週六，也就是六月十四日，台北某些人因釣魚台問題而引發的「不惜一戰」情緒飆到新高點，連政府也急急召回了駐日代表。台日兩國既無正式邦交，連如此重大外交手段都祭出來了，剩下來的只有取消免簽證措施、經濟抵制、宣戰這幾招可用。由於當局者對日本向無好感，主戰派的聲音也就特別大聲。針對此事，已有許多值得一讀的評論與警語，不待我來續貂。我只想簡單就我粗淺所知，談談發生於1982年的英阿福克蘭戰爭（Falklands War/Guerra de las Malvinas）。當年，那場戰爭的爆發令我頗感訝異；戰爭爆發後不久，看到國際反應與英軍擺出的態勢，我開始認為開戰者真是莫名其妙。如今事隔四分之一個世紀，相信有不少人與我有相同的想法：那真是場愚蠢的戰爭。

維多利亞時代（Victorian era）一詞源自於英國維多利亞女王（Queen Victoria, 1819-1901）之名。她統治英國長達六十四年半之久（1837-1901），此時期大致與英國工業革命、大英帝國、以及歐洲三者的全盛時期相符。

趣味之一來自手書那四個字的楊老先生的這段回憶：

專擅歐陽詢體及魏碑龍門二十品的楊家麟說，要寫「大中至正」四字，是由秦孝儀定下的，出處是王陽明的傳習錄，「粹然大中至正之歸矣。」

「當時好多書法家都要來寫，先宣布要寫歐陽體，就走了一批人，後來說不能署名，又走了一批人，最後說，配合八卦時辰，得當場就寫，只剩下三個人，就是我和故宮前副院長江兆申及書法家丁翼。」楊家麟回憶道。（《聯合報》，2007/12/04）

解嚴滿二十年前夕，有人說，與其講過去的事不如拼經濟，有人說，檢討過去沒出息。依照這些人的想法，歷史書、歷史課、歷史系就可以全廢掉了。

台灣民眾黨成立於1927年7月10日，台灣總督府於1931年2月18日下令解散之。民眾黨雖是台灣人所組的第一個合法政黨，但其建黨滿十週年的日子只是徒令人欷噓。一方面，反殖民運動本身不但被官方打壓，而且內部亦經數度分裂；另一方面，由於蘆溝橋事變在三天前發生，台灣開始進入戰時體制時期，自此至終戰，反對運動只能沈寂。

走在時代前頭的楊德昌走了。聞訊後，我第一個反應是李白這句「自古聖賢皆寂寞」。

陳菊與蔣經國有什麼關係？當然有。蔣經國當總統的時候，陳菊因美麗島事件而成為政治犯。除此之外呢？

當美軍瞄準建築物上的納粹標誌、發射砲彈*時，建築物裡面應該沒有德軍，我想。

多年來，每當我想起二二八，腦海中就會浮現這張照片。在事件中擔任和平使者的畫家陳澄波，被國府軍隊槍殺，子彈穿過胸口，留下彈痕，人已死，目未瞑。關於二二八大屠殺的一手影像如鳳毛麟角，這是其中一件。對於陳澄波的家人勇敢而堅毅地將這個影像保留下來，心中滿懷敬佩與感謝者當不只有我一人。

大提琴家、指揮家兼人權鬥士 Мстислав Ростропович（Mstislav Rostropovich）於4月27日病逝於莫斯科。大師已安息，留絃音身影，銘於世人記憶，forever, навсегда！

重聽他在1995年所演奏的巴哈無伴奏大提琴組曲。在那筆墨無法形容的恢弘深沈之世界裡，慣於跟文字打交道的我撞見了一個拉丁字：Fidelis。

解嚴即將滿二十年。在未來的幾個月內，會不會有人出來頌揚蔣經國決策的「睿智」？拭目以待。在1980年代中期的歷史時空中，當時台灣社會有黨禁、報禁、髮禁，信件在「開封街」被過濾，出國觀光、外匯這些涉外事務更是在半鎖國政策下受到重重約制。罄竹難書的禁制措施招致的不滿在民間快速升高，檢討的聲浪指向萬年不改選、阻礙改革的外來「國會」。當時政治環境猶如瀕臨爆炸的劣質壓力鍋。1986年9月28日，民進黨的冒險成立就像硬擠出來的蒸汽般地釋出（對當局而言）刺耳的聲響。那也許是爆炸前的最終警告。與其說蔣經國睿智，倒不如說他比整個國民黨敏銳得多，他知道再不掀開鍋蓋，後果難料。解嚴，不得不然也。

倘若如前文所言，蔣介石在1939年前後即「中道崩殂」，那他不但稱得上是「台獨之友」，而且，幾年後美國總統杜魯門在咒罵（連「天殺的」都說出口咧）那些將美援中飽私囊的中國權貴時，應該也不會提到「蔣」這個姓。

是的，杜魯門，男主角也許該是他。與其像蔣孝嚴那樣說「如果沒有兩位總統，抗戰不會勝利」，倒不如改問、或至少得問：「如果沒有杜魯門總統如何如何」...

「如果沒有兩蔣」要從何說起呢？不用扯到蔣氏家譜來細說從頭，否則講個一千零一夜也講不完。就先挑西安事變（1936）這件攸關老蔣性命的大事來說好了。

對於民進黨所提的慈湖撤憲兵之倡議，身為兩蔣後人的蔣孝嚴強力反對。「蔣孝嚴還替蔣家辯解，說如果沒有兩蔣守護，台灣恐怕已經淪陷於中國共產黨」（民視新聞，2006年2月8日）。前一天，中廣新聞網也有類似報導：「兩位總統三軍統帥應該有所禮遇，對國家貢獻不是用一句話就可以抹滅，如果沒有兩位總統，抗戰不會勝利，台灣還被日本佔領甚至給共產黨，沒有老總統哪來經國先生，自食其果付出代價。」

從文法句構來看，中廣最後這一小段「自食其果付出代價」的主詞應該是「台灣」。姑且不論這是蔣孝嚴親口所說的，還是中廣記者陳雅君的「傑作」，這種「如果沒有兩位總統」的話，台灣就會「自食其果付出代價」的想法實在是駭人聽聞：難不成台灣原本罪孽深重，若非兩位「救星」的話，肯定會「自食惡果」？設若主詞不是「台灣」的話，那只剩下「兩位總統」可以作為主詞，這樣說當然更奇怪：難不成蔣孝嚴在說：如果沒有兩位總統，「兩位總統」就會「自食惡果」？這是冷笑話嗎？
