Brokeback Mountain

The dog year comes!

The atmosphere of holidays was quite hilarious. I was supposed to have a wonderful Chinese new year. However, I strangely missed a guy very very much, couldn’t get his ghost out of my mind, how pathetic this has been! Plus some things that I have been puzzling about for days, I tell you what? I was exceptionally down.

Whatever, the dog year still comes! Cheers! (*___*)

See what kept my mom busy!

An outsider

Here are some photos that I took in the glass gallery of the V&A museum during my visit. I didn't write down who made these artworks. Looking at them, I am just thinking:

What if I've been an outsider from myslef for a long long time?

Easy days.

I've got some job opportunities these days, yet none of them are confirmed. It’s very possible that I have to embrace this uncertainty through my Chinese new year. There are also some other choices for me to make, like to join some friends’ franchises or not, but actually I am not sure if I am ready to have my own business like that.

In my mind my original plan to have my own art gallery is still present. But you know…that requires so much working capital and so many connections. My life is still long, and I have plenty of time to get that ready. Plus, I already own an art gallery in my heart, don't I? It’s a pleasure to collect things you like and the process can help know more about yourself.

Now I have time to review some books that I read when I was very young, and as my junior high school teacher once said, "you can always get a second perspective when you read a good book twice." Well, Milan Kundera, nice to see you again!

The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Muss es sein?  Ja, es muss sein.  - Beethoven

Milan Kundera  http://contipromotor.cz/destination-czech/famous-czechs/

About the book:

Lightness and Weight
Quote from *SparkNotes

Lightness and weight both get linked to a philosopher, a philosophy of life, and several characters. The ancient Greek Paremenides, mentioned in the opening pages of the novel, is a philosopher of lightness to whom weight is negative. Practically, accepting the lightness of being means accepting a certain lack of ultimate meaning in life, and living for momentary beauty.

Those who accept lightness, for example, are not likely to ally themselves to political parties, either the Communist regime or the dieh ard dissidents. While both
Tomas and Sabina are characterized by lightness, Sabina is the more extreme example as she consistently refuses to be tied down. Tomas, on the other hand, ultimately returns to Tereza and Prague.

Kundera associates heaviness with Nietzsche and the philosophy of eternal return. Kundera does not believe eternal return exists, and argues that man only has the opportunity to try one path, and hence has no point of comparison or meaning. Instead, those characters who are heavy cannot accept this unbearable lightness of being, and seek to attach a meaning and weight to what they consider important in life.

Tereza and
Franz are both heavy characters. Tereza is heavy emotionally and cannot cope with the lightness around her, and is driven nearly to insanity. Franz, interpreting all the events of his life as heavy, is led to an early and unnecessary death.

Lightness versus weight is the key dichotomy of The Unbearable Lightness of Being, a paradox that cannot be resolved. None of the four characters ultimately seem to find a solution. It is noteworthy that of the four, Sabina is the only one living at the end of the
book; however, not even she is necessarily happy or fulfilled or sure of her life choices.

Hello Moto !

Um...Hello.......everybody!  (^.^)

A bit political

I am very depressed to see the great statesmen, Frank Hsieh (謝長廷) and Yi-hsung Lin(林義雄) stepping down from the political stage. I truly admire these two politicians and hope they can return some day.

Recently I read that the Broadcasting Development Foundation just announced the top 10 most invasive news stories in 2005. They condemned some coverage last year that invidiously peered into the privacy of public figures, disseminated untrue information, or puffed up misleading social values, such as unmarried pregnancy, celebrity suicides and unjustified menacing affairs. These negative reports have plagued news coverage and deprived people of their rights to take care for the  concerns of others or help build a well-balanced society. I am not conservative, but I truly feel comforted knowing that there are still some people guarding our community.

Perk Up, Miss! You’ve got to catch up with those good people and keep in step with them!
