2005/11/15 蜘蛛

11月12日  候機室

親愛的寶寶：

此刻我正掛念一只早已不在的蜘蛛。

我是在博物學家威爾森的書裡讀到它的事的。

“1883年8月27日，克拉克托島上的火山爆發，不但死了三萬人，

整個島上的生物也全都死光了，還引起全球一連串海嘯……

九個月過後，一支法國探險隊去島上搜尋有沒有任何生命跡象，

結果，整個荒涼的島上，只發現一只很小很小的蜘蛛，

就它一只而已，正在織網……”

威爾森說，這只小蜘蛛是乘著風降落在島上的。

然後，威爾森加問了一個問題：

”真不知道它織那個蜘蛛網，到底是打算要補什麼？整個島上就它一個而已。”

克拉克托島後來當然又漸漸復甦了，海裡沖了蟹上來，天上有鳥經過就棲息住下。

只是沒有人知道，那只小蜘蛛有沒有能夠撐到那時候。

我類比著它獨自織好了蛛網。卻什麼都等不到的那一陣子的心情。

“我是這個世界的第一個嗎？還是這世界剩下的最後一個？”

我想像著那張迎風招展的小小蛛網，

這麼勇敢，又這麼荒謬，

這麼霸道又這麼空虛。

這只小蜘蛛可真夠唐吉柯德了。
