年輕時的他可也是意氣風發過
他和前衛搖滾團體 King Crimson 的靈魂人物 Robert Fripp 從小穿同一條內褲長大, 一起玩音樂, 也曾擔任過此團第三張專輯 "Lizard" 的主唱. 然而這位英國佬中年時期卻因為負債累累而落魄潦倒到在丹麥的酒館唱歌賺錢, 這一唱就是十幾年(從1984到90末)
然而或許是這種人生經驗, 讓他的歌聲和詞曲創作如此成熟穩重, 沒有敢愛敢恨的悲壯情節, 相反地, 將一些在小動作與細節中流露的情感表現地淋漓盡致, 宛如敘事般娓娓道來, 就像這首以亨利酒吧為背景的歌一樣, 從頭到尾沒有一個 Love 出現, 卻是一個道道地地, 屬於熟男和熟女的愛情故事
