Writing Skills Topic Three: Exemplification Basic

A. Purposes:

The author uses the Exemplification skill to describe an abstract concept or to present important information.

B. Elements:

There are three elements existing in an exemplification article: a general idea, an example and a signal word. The general idea means either an abstract concept or important information. And the example or examples give a concrete sense related to the general idea. Finally, the signal words help readers identify which one should be an exemplification.
