Writing Skills Topic One: Chronological Order-Basic

Writing Skills Topic One: Chronological Order-Basic

A. Purposes

The first one of the writing skills introduced is the “chronological order.” This style is used for describing important events in a nation’s history or a person’s life. And this style is also used for describing the relationship among events in terms of “time.”

B. Elements

In the chronological order writing, two elements should be picked up: “when” and event(s). Particularly, “when” is concerned with time which primarily interests the readers. In each event, there will be several factors: “who,” “where,” “what,” “why,” and “how.” Specifically, the writing focus is “what” because “what” is to tell actions or problems, where usually the readers concern “actions” better.
