CLS Celebrates Construction Completion
Horn Blowing
The Choir
Fulfilling the vision for a close marriage between seminary and church, the new building hosts 4 partner congregations, 6 Christian organizations and a variety of conferences and meetings sponsored by international and local churches and mission groups. The relationships are mutually edifying, providing natural symbiotic opportunities for training and serving. In order to fulfill the multi-purpose functions of this seminary-church interactive relationship, the new center was constructed with a basement parking lot, 500 person auditorium (Luther Hall), state-of-the-art library (Melanchthon Library), 200 person cafeteria, ten classrooms (including multimedia and distance learning classrooms), partner church offices, teachers’ offices, student research rooms, and four stories of dormitory and guest rooms.
The Congregation
China Lutheran Seminary continues with a student population of four hundred, eight full-time teachers, thirty five part-time teachers, and a staff of twenty. One hundred students meet on campus for their studies. The other three hundred take part in a variety of extension programs, including internet distance courses and in-person courses taught at 25 branch and Grassroots Evangelism Training Program locations. Besides the Grassroots Evangelism Certificate (preparing lay leaders to serve more fully in their congregations), the seminary has four ATA accredited degree programs: Master of Theology (Luther Studies), Master of Divinity, Master of Arts (Care & Counseling), and Bachelor of Theology.
