China Lutheran Seminary

Our church have a fellowship named 'Praising Fellowship' which is called to serve physically or mentally disabled friends, to encourage growth in love and in Christ. One day, I was moved to purchase a ‘reconstruction lamb’ with Pastor Pei-yiu's help. We would like to feed the lamb with what we have. It grew slowly but our happiness grew fast. The disabled often rely on assistance from others, but this time, we could assist others and exercise our share on servant training and evangelism.

When I was admitted to China Lutheran Seminary, it was small but quite complete compared to its original size. Students took turns doing the grocery, trying all their best to make both ends meet and feed more than 20 people with NT$80. There were few local Chinese faculty members; the library was poor in its collection; requirements from the teachers were heavy. The students all managed to speak English with a Chinese accent. We learned how to trust, how to get along, how to play the piano, how to praise, how to catch frogs and snails…. Busy but complete!

 In later years, the Seminary has undergone several phases of the expansion, improving its organizational structure, hardware/software, curriculum and educational systems. All the improvements came with collected efforts from the faculty, students, alumni, churches and concerned friends. Though with difficulty, all the efforts brought hope, prospect and sweetness in the end.

“Wow, you got lots of classmates!” The Seminary has changed greatly since my days. I am deeply impressed with the solid training current students are receiving. I’m truly amazed by what I see now.

China Lutheran Seminary has been serving the Taiwanese society and Christian communities at different times with the same old Gospel. Faced with today’s challenges, the Seminary needs to be reformed and regenerated with the expansion project. It will surely be more difficult than any previous project, but we look up to our Lord with more appreciation and expectation.
