大衛蘭茲是目前世界上最流行的器樂獨奏和成人另類音樂領域的藝術家之一。蘭茲在十幾歲的時候曾參加過幾個搖滾樂隊，不久之後，他逐漸確立了他作為一個鋼琴獨奏家的地位，在西雅圖的一些夜店裏，我們經常可以見到他的演出。在他將自己最早期的帶著流行調子的混音作品帶入酒吧後，他受到了一些贊助人的積極回應，不久後，他幾乎獨自一人玩起了自己的音樂。現在，他早期的鋼琴獨奏作品仍然是Narada這個廠牌眾多唱片中賣得最好的，這足見他的功力和受歡迎的程度。蘭茲和吉他演奏家Paul Speer一起合作完成的作品現在依然矗立在美國公告牌（Billboard）的前200名，當蘭茲的聲望日漸上昇後，他已經不滿足於以前的音樂形式，他的作品開始玩得越來越大並和更多的和聲樂團進行合作，而這樣的合作最為人稱道的便是作品《Skyline Firedance 》（1990），這個作品居然動用了整個管絃樂團，真令人咂舌。在1991年發行的《Return to the Heart 》裏，蘭茲終於回到了自己作為一個鋼琴獨奏家的本源。在1993年發行的《 Bridge of Dreams 》中，蘭茲首次獻聲。在過去的十年裏，蘭茲始終保持著作品非常高產的特點，比如1994年重新編排的《Christmas Eve》，還有1996年發行的《Sacred Road》和兩年後發行的《Songs from an English Garden》，無一例外地體現著這個特點。再接著，蘭茲出版了《An Evening》（1999），而《East of the Moon》也在一年之後出版。

今生與前世

許多人都相信來生與前世。
因為那讓我們對今生的不幸，
用前世做藉口，說那是前世欠下的。
也對今生的不滿，用來生做憧憬，
說可以等待來生去實現。
問題是，那個「今生」不是「前世」的「來生」？
那個「來生」不是「來生」的「今生」？
來生的緣，可以是今生結下的；
來生的果，可以是今生種下的。
前世的債，今生正在還。還不清，來生還得繼續。
前世的緣，今生正在實現，
好不容易盼到了，還不好好把握？
看腳下！看腳下！
有什麼比腳下踩的地更實在？有什麼比今生更直接？
今生都不積極地把握，憑什麼奢望來生？
今生都不耕耘，憑什麼盼望來生豐收？
難道我們還要像不負責任的父母，
欠下債，死了，等兒女還？打算今生欠債，來生還嗎？
還是勇敢地面對今生。今生債，今生了！
連前世未還的債，也在今生了斷。

一九六七年五月八日出生於大阪的鋼琴美人西村由紀江（Yukie Nishimura），

從小就被認定擁有天賦的音樂才能。三歲開始習琴的她，在幼時即贏得由山葉所主辦的

Junior Original Concert音樂大賞，並曾遠赴歐洲、美國、東南亞等地參加巡迴演出，

博得世界各地愛樂者的讚賞。
大學時期她就讀於桐朋大學的音樂系鋼琴組，並於一九八六年以發行首張專輯出道，

至今已發行過二十張專輯，其中為偶像日劇【101次求婚】、【送給親愛的人】、

【Good Morning】所譜寫的配樂，由於優美的琴音流瀉出女性溫柔的浪漫情懷，

因而受到廣泛樂迷的喜愛。此外，她在電影、廣告或是電視節目的音樂製作上，

亦有十分傑出的表現。
除了在日本當地受到推崇，西村由紀江在世界各地也擁有廣大的樂迷與高度的評價。

特別是在臺灣、香港、新加坡等東南亞地區，專輯的銷售量更是屢獲金唱片的超人氣肯定。

一九九六年在台北、一九九七年在香港，與一九九八年造訪臺灣四個城市的

巡迴鋼琴演奏會全都售票一空。她以空靈氣質所做出的新世紀音樂，被日本稱作

「西村之音」而自樹一格。現在，西村由紀江正以自己獨特的音樂魅力，

成為眾所矚目的女性鋼琴家。
