Oskar Barnack Award 2009 & Photographer's Eye

The well-known photo contest "Oskar Barnack Award 2009" was closed recently. You could go to official website to see entries' works. Click "T" for Taiwan. Here are some pictures contributed by Taiwanese. I think everyone should be atrracted by a merry-go-round B/W photo. That's right. It was taken by a photo-journalist using LEICA M6 and Summicron 50. He made this artwork in England when he studied photography at abroad. The man will come to our party this weekend.

3 days ago, he told me that the LEICA digital kamera is hard to control. I agree his point. Even working for this company, I still keep shooting (film) analog kamera. But he really overcomes it! His digital photos represents great emotions that only film could make before.

Now turn to another side. Here comes a new photography book called "The Photographer's Eye" this month. Published by "大家出版社" of SinoBooks Group. This publisher also launched lots of good photography books, like legendary photo-journalist Robert Capa's biography, Japanese photography forerunner Araki Nobbunoshi (荒木經惟) 's biography and so on.

There are so many "camera books" in the market but few "photography books". The author of "The photographer's Eye" is Michael Freeman. He tells main topic regarding "composition". Whether you carry a $100 plastic camera or a $1000000 luxury toy, composition is much important than everything.

I've not read this book. I think It might be nice in terms of previous publication. Everyone could go to official website to read the sample in advance.
