"I Love New York."對我而言決不是一個口號或是一句歌詞

時常幻想著有生之年要在這多采多姿的大蘋果裡上演著一段浪漫的愛情故事

這人生

也就不枉走這一遭了

這念頭

早在我兒時的記憶裡看過不少電影後就深藏的一個刻板印象

紐約，是個許許多多浪漫愛情不斷上演的地方

就算長大後的我身處在車水馬龍燈紅酒綠的臺北街頭，也會偶爾幻想著是在紐約的夜色中

心中所響起的是這首歌詞所唱的：

When you get caught between the Moon and New York City
I know it's crazy, but it's true
If you get caught between the Moon and New York City
The best that you can do .....
The best that you can do is fall in love

夜，也隨著這首歌變得浪漫而多情了



這部電影是敘述一個游手好閒無所事事的闊少，過著紙醉金迷浪費生命的生活

但是他覺得空虛依舊，直到他偶然邂逅了逼個窮妞

讓他找回生命的意義，卻因為階級身份的天差地遠讓他們的愛苗被眾人所唱衰

但是男主角仍舊堅持己愛獨排眾議，終得美人歸

也讓他了解生命與愛情的真諦

我還記得片尾快結束時播放著這首歌，讓我深深地為這高亢而優美的歌聲所吸引



說到這首歌的作者Burt Bacharach，就很難不好好介紹一番

這一位Hit Maker從60年代起就有許多有名的歌曲皆出自他的筆下

像是《That's What Friends Are For》，《Close To You》，《The Look Of Love》，《Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head》...等

而當時Burt Bacharach根據電影劇情創作完這首歌之後，屬意由其貌不揚，歌聲卻高亢悠揚的Christopher Cross來演唱

他那細緻而高亢歌聲讓我想到國內的張信哲的音色，這位歌手在1981年可是歌壇竄起的當紅炸子雞



出身德州富裕家庭的他與電影那位花花闊少背景相當雷同，但不同於電影中的男主角那樣好吃懶做

Christopher Cross從小就被家人寄予很高的期望，希望他能就讀醫學院

不負眾望的他也如願以償進入醫學院就讀

只是對音樂狂熱無法忘情的他還是堅決放棄成為一個準醫生的大好前途

1980年時先後以《Sailing》，《Ride On The Wind》奪得排行榜冠亞軍

1981年還一口氣獲得葛萊美"年度最佳單曲"，"年度最佳唱片"，"年度最佳專輯"等大獎

這首主題曲隨著電影上檔後再度為他奪得另一次排行榜冠軍，錦上添花的事又更添一樁

更在當年度的Oscar中榮獲最佳電影主題曲的最高榮譽

可說是好事連莊，是主唱Christopher Cross想都沒想到的夢想

有趣的是這首歌的浪漫指數高得嚇人

作曲者Burt Bacharach與填詞者Carole Bayer Sage也獲得Oscar後

視為是無上的恩賜，終於相戀多年後修得正果

成為他倆最佳的紀念品

如同歌詞所言:If you get caught between the Moon and New York City .The best that you can do is fall in love.
