80年代英國流行樂壇颳起一陣型男樂團風

從在80年代初期紅極一時的英國團體Spandau Ballet

用深情浪漫的嗓音，俊帥斯文的外型

以一首"True"強大的電力不知電昏多少女性樂迷的心

儼然成為英倫浪漫樂派教主

而今天要介紹的是80年代後期的型男樂團---Johnny Hates Jazz


Johnny Hates Jazz於1986年所組成

組員有Clark Datchler (主唱、鋼琴)、Calvin Hayes (鍵盤)以及Mike Nocito (貝斯)三位大男生

值得一提的是，團名本是因一位朋友討厭爵士樂而取的Johnny Hates Jazz

成軍之後原先在RAK唱片公司旗下發表了首支單曲「Me and My Foolish Heart」

但是反應平平

接著在同年近年底時於一個爵士俱樂部表演

1987年為主流大廠牌Virgin唱片公司的賞識而攬入旗下
(團名說恨爵士，卻在爵士俱樂部表演，還真是奇怪)

1987年底發行了單曲「Shattered Dreams」

曲風流暢精緻，再加上三位成員的外型斯文有型

所以受到相當大的迴響與歡迎

隔年1988年2月在眾人的期盼下終於發行了首張專輯"Turn Back The Clock"

這首同名歌曲"Turn Back The Clock"內容敘述著對於舊愛的追悔與不捨

多希望時光能再倒轉回相愛的那一刻

詞意雖然淺白易懂

但卻深深地打動無數顆曠男怨女的芳心

成為他們另一首膾炙人口的代表作

在1995年國內的杜德偉也曾翻唱過這首歌曲

這張專輯好歌不少

當然除了Clark Datchler式的輕快舞曲佔了一大半

像是"Heart of Gold".....".Don't Say It's Love"......"I Don't Want To Be A Hero"

風格統一不會有格格不入的感覺

是當年舞廳中必備的單曲

當然專輯還蠻有誠意地加收了3首舞曲延長版的bonus track

簡直就是物超所值

不過我最愛的是專輯裡唯一稱得上是慢版的抒情歌曲"Different Seasons"

略帶一點傷感的曲式讓人聽來格外動人

很適合在這秋涼飄雨的季節轉換時節帶來一絲絲傷春悲秋的愁悵

不過稍嫌不足的是主唱的歌聲感情不夠多

但"瑕不掩瑜"不足以影響我對這首歌的喜愛

Johnny Hates Jazz一砲而紅後

卻因為主唱兼樂團的靈魂創作人物Clark Datchler在同年夏天離團單飛

樂團只好由製作人Phil Thornalley頂替遺缺

1991年發行第二張專輯"Tall Stories”

風格雖說與前一張相近，卻因為早已時不我予的老調重彈而缺乏新意

所以未能再續佳績

使得Johnny Hates Jazz又成為歌壇中另一朵驚豔的曇花

留給樂迷無限噓唏與懷念！


在Johnny Hates Jazz短暫卻璀璨的音樂生涯中，雖然僅發行過兩張創作專輯

但這張專輯卻是一張可聽性極高的好專輯

也是一張喜歡80年代音樂不可不收藏的專輯
