我想

絕對不是那一連串冷冰冰的官方說法吧

檯面下不為人知的一面

也許是那醜惡的

不欲人知的一面

才更貼近墮落的人性

當然

也滿足了挖糞的傳媒與嗜血的觀眾

但.....

是滿足嘛

還是一場警世的劇情

人性永遠在性，金錢，權利上跟善惡在拔河

一旦屈服了心中的那個撒旦

別以為永遠可以瞞天過海

否則

事情一一被揭發

不就是一樁樁令人難堪的醜聞

政治介也好

演藝圈也罷

甚至於在周身的職場與大街小巷中

醜聞

不停地上演

這部電影描述在1963年的英國

媒體踢爆了一則「部長、模特兒與蘇聯間諜」為標題的頭條

赤裸裸地揭發了本世紀最為轟動及令人震驚的政治性醜聞事件

這椿著名的「普佛墨醜聞」在當年民主與共產緊張對立的冷戰時期

不但撼動了英國上流社會保守的道德標準

更嚴重地打擊了保守黨派的勢力體系


女主角Christine Keeler讓英國的保守黨選舉大敗

首相麥克美倫(Maurice Crawford Macmillan)下台一鞠躬

這都是因為爆發了著名的「The Profumo Affair」

從1963年春天，一直持續至該年夏天

麥美倫在1964年9月黯然淡出政壇，並拒絕接受封為貴族


其實Christine Keeler只是個區區的模特兒

後來因為一些因緣際會開始從事高級應召女郎的工作

所服務的客戶都是赫赫有名的證商名流

當然也包括苦苦主英國前戰爭大臣(相當於國內的國防部長)普佛墨(John Profumo)

更誇張的是他們之間還多了俄國人

而且是俄國海軍將軍

與Christine Keeler演出了3P性醜聞

幾乎把整個英國的國防情治工作的顏面丟盡

至於後來蘇聯有無從中獲取情報我們並不得知

但是至少在當年壁壘分明的冷戰年代而言

與敵軍發生性醜聞是多麼的丟臉



這樣的新聞

這樣的戲碼

在每一年

每一個國家

都賣力地上演著

只是不知何時會被踢爆



看著苦主東窗事發後的神情憔悴，苦苦哀求

被牽連到的人也惶惶不可終日

只能長歎一聲

早知如此

何必當初


這首主題曲在Dusty Springfield的詮釋下

雖說只是一首敘事的歌曲

並沒有太多的起伏與說教

老將的功力果然把這首歌曲的震撼給唱出來

而1963年對Dusty Springfield也是一個充滿意義的一年

因為她單飛的第一首單曲"I Only Want To Be With You"在該年一砲而紅

國內女歌手黃鶯鶯也在1990年的"溫柔火戰車"英文專輯中再度唱了這首歌

Christine's pale and drawn
