前陣子在看"星光大道"時

聽見一個甜甜的嗓音唱著這首L-O-V-E

難得有參賽者會有挑這首浪漫而俏皮的Jazz老情歌

讓整個選秀節目多了一些過去不同的復古雅致情懷

也佩服她的勇氣來挑戰這一首東方人不太能從容掌握的曲風

只是這首歌她是傚仿Nat King Cole的女兒--Natalie Cole的唱法

原唱Nat King Cole是比較四平八穩的風格，中規中矩，沒有大的失誤，倒也沒啥太多的驚喜

女兒Natalie Cole的唱法則是多了些隨性的花腔，讓這首俏皮而輕鬆的情歌多了畫龍點睛之效

只是

如同我說的一樣

很少唱這樣曲風的東方人會咬字與節奏上無法兼顧

顧此失彼

參賽者也因此而失去晉級的資格黯然退出

但我還是要感謝她讓我們再度對這首Jazz老歌多了些注意

也讓我想介紹這一個Jazz歌王的女兒---Natalie Cole


1950年出生於LA的Natalie Cole自小就在演藝家庭的薰陶與父親的提攜下，開始了她的歌唱生涯

年僅六歲的她在1956年就已初生之犢的姿態 發行了第一首單曲"I’m Good Will, Your Christmas Spirit"

1961年 與父親及姊姊合作單曲"Ain’t She Sweet"

這時的她儼然是個小小巨星一般在任何公開演唱的場合表現得落落大方，絲毫不怯場，頗有大將之風

1975年發行首張個人專輯"Inseparable"，一鳴驚人成為金唱片; 並為創造了二首冠軍單曲: "This Will Be"、"Inseparable"的好成績

本專輯同時為他拿下「最佳節奏藍調女歌手」與「最佳新人」二座葛萊美獎

"This Will Be"這一首輕快而熱鬧的R&B情歌十分討喜

在後來的許多愛情浪漫喜劇中出現讓整個氣氛加分不少

1976年發行第二張個人專輯"Natalie"，同樣地也成為金唱片

由她參與譜寫的"Sophisticated Lady"成為冠軍單曲

同年她拿下第三座葛萊美獎：「最佳節奏藍調女歌手」

70年代後期陸續發行專輯"Unpredictable"，"Thankful"，現場錄音專輯"Natalie … Live!""Thankful"，"I Love You So"...... 張張暢銷

冠軍單曲"I’ve Got Love on My Mind"，"Our Love"


70年代的Natalie是風光的R&B女歌手

但是接下來的80年代初期

聲勢與暢銷度不如以往

有一度她也沉迷於酒精與藥品的墮落生活


直到1988年她為"小氣財神"電影原聲帶("Scrooged")獻唱"The Christmas Song";

這是她第一次選擇翻唱了父親當年的轟動名曲

1989年發行專輯"Good to Be Back", 成為白金唱片; 由EMI/Manhattan唱片公司發行。冠軍單曲為"Miss You Like Crazy"

正如專輯名稱一般

她再度振作又回到過去那個意氣風發的模樣

專輯中她與佛萊迪傑克森(Freddie Jackson)合唱的單曲"I Do"亦成為前五名暢銷曲

1990年為"麻雀變鳳凰"電影原聲帶("Pretty Woman")獻唱"Wild Women Do"也隨著電影的票房賣座而讓她再受到大家的注意

當然

她的事業最高點應該是在1991年

專輯"永誌不忘(Unforgettable, With Love)",重唱了她父親當年紅極一時的暢銷歌曲

並運用高科技的技巧讓父女在專輯中與音樂錄影帶中同台演出了流行音樂單曲榜冠軍歌曲"Unforgettable"

專輯銷量超過了一千四百萬張，獲得葛萊美獎九項提名

並贏得其中包括「年度最佳專輯」、「最佳單曲唱片」等七項大獎，被認為是音樂史上最成功的專輯之一

1993年 發行專輯"Take a Look", 首次榮獲葛萊美獎「最佳爵士演唱人」殊榮，

從此，她也隨著父親的腳踏車走上Jazz之路

更重要的

她在Jazz上的成就與地位也與她父親齊名

之後陸續與法蘭克‧辛那屈(Frank Sinatra)，多明哥(Placido Domigo)與荷西‧卡列拉斯(Jose Carreras)合作,

2001年春天發行她音樂生涯的第一張精選輯"Greatest Hits, Volume One"

除了收錄她歷年來的暢銷歌曲以外, 並加收她與李察馬爾克斯(Richard Marx)合作譜寫的新作"Angel on My Shoulder"



我們常說"有其父必有其子"

但以Natalie的歌唱生涯而言

不僅讓她自己發光發熱

更重要的

那浪漫而復古的情懷是如此令人永誌難忘

再度讓我們回味屬於Nat King Cole年代那份溫暖歲月
