不知怎的

時已入冬

卻聽到了有颱風來襲的怪異消息

窗外卻大雨滂沱伴隨著風的呼嘯近一個星期

此時的我只想窩在家裡

突然想聽60年代的Jazz

一提到Jazz

就很難不去找出Nat King Cole的專輯出來好好回味一番



出生於1917 年 3 月 17 日出生於美國南部 阿拉巴馬州蒙歌馬利市的Nat King Cole

父親為教會牧師，家裡的兄弟各自都有音樂專長

如同大部份的南方黑人一般

為了追求更好的生活品質，不再受到南方傳統黑人受到次等待遇之苦

Nat 在四歲時舉家遷居到北方的工業大城芝加哥

十二歲時在父親主持的教會彈奏管風琴並加入詩班

之後Nat 在 1936 年與兄弟 Eddie 合出第一張唱片，由 Decca 發行

開始了他的演藝生涯。




Nat Cole 的彈奏風格受到前輩 Earl Hines 的節奏性演奏風格頗深

他一手不斷地炫耀著那漂亮的和弦與裝飾音，另一手則穩健地擔任節奏樂器的角色

音符的走法比較隨性，也是我們日後常聽到的Jazz鋼琴的典型彈奏風格

Nat 真正發跡，始於他定居洛杉磯好萊塢之後

與 Oscar Moore （吉他），Wesley Prince（低音貝斯）合組三重奏，後改為 King Cole Trio

在好萊塢的Swanne Inn 固定演出，由於 Nat 不僅琴藝精湛，

歌喉圓潤抒情，亦深受當時白人聽眾喜 愛

他灌錄的幾張唱片很快就成為張張大賣的暢銷專輯，自此以後

Nat King Cole就一路順遂




在那個充滿著歧視有色人種的50-60年代

Nat King Cole 一直是一個廣受歡迎的歌手、鋼琴家、樂團領導者與電視節目主持人

也是當時爵士樂手中所得數一數二者

這是多麼難能可貴的事

也正因為他的努力與他的實力

說服了一般大眾的心也改變了對於黑人的偏見(雖說當年的歧視沒有因為他的出現有多大的進展與改變)

使得他成為當時電視上少見的紅星



而說起Nat King Cole的歌曲

常常在許多電影中出現

總是讓人聽到以後會私下驚呼"啊~~~這就是他的哪一首歌曲!!"

總是那麼令人有種像是多年不見的老友相逢般的驚喜

但大多是在他去世以後才把惡些歌曲套用在某一個懷舊，或是浪漫的情景之下

這首 Mona Lisa，後來成為電影「Mona Lisa」配樂

卻是他少數生前的電影配樂

歌詞十分的浪漫而充滿想像力

在那個優雅而充滿著許多壓抑情懷的60年代

身穿花旗袍的方麗珍(張曼玉飾)搖曳著曼妙的身影

走在街上的經典畫面

是絕對少不了一首足以代表當時華麗而雅致氛圍的一首Jazz好歌
