[美東記事] 歸期

昨天跑去機場一趟，把回程原為open(未確認回程時間)的來回機票換新；看著新機票上印著明確的班機時間和機位，先前由於對歸期猶疑未決而懸於心中的大石終於落下，心情不需再起伏不定。

cc買的是聯合航空(UA：United Airline)台北<-->波士頓的來回年票，中間得先經舊金山轉機。但自從UA日前宣告破產後，航線改變好像蠻大的，cc在網路上完全找不到波士頓->舊金山->台北的UA班機... 而且cc現在人也不在波士頓，一想到還得從Rochester先搭機回波士頓就覺得有點頭大... 。

每次cc很煩惱時，好像總會有救星出現... cc在ELC的同學Winnie也是要搭UA返台，她建議cc直接跟UA聯繫，又說UA有"講中文"的電話服務--這服務頓時讓cc安心了不少... 。另外，cc也慶幸原來自己當時買的就是可以更改起飛地的來回票，結果總共只花了$75手續費，回程就輕鬆改為由Rochester起飛... 哈... 開心地鬆了好大一口氣呢... 。

[美東記事] 火災警報再起

真沒想到這個標題在cc的日記簿裏可以再派上用場。

一早就被刺耳的警報聲吵醒，睡眼怔忪地也搞不清楚狀況，雖然上回的濃煙記憶猶存，不過後來又誤報了好幾次，就又減低了戒心... 所以內心還是掙扎著要不要起床避難...

[美東記事] American Idol

今年的American Idol出爐了，Ruben Studdard 拔得頭籌！

cc原本是看好Clay Aiken會得到第一名的，所以聽到宣布Ruben是冠軍得主時其實有些驚訝... 但是，不管是Ruben、Clay或是cc最喜歡的Kimberley Locke (她是第三名)，在長達幾個月的賽程中，在好幾千萬人的見證下，這些起初平凡無奇的小老百姓，現在都成為家喻戶曉的超級明星... (如果你到American Idol網站上去看看這些超級明星的話，相信你一定會同意cc的話--他們確實長得"平凡無奇"，甚至還超胖、過瘦很難被定義為帥哥或美女級，但是連外國人cc我，現在也認為他們很迷人呢...) cc想，那是因為他們自信、他們有勇氣挑戰機會、他們堅持並努力實踐夢想... 因此光芒萬丈，獲得無數的肯定。

Rubin在成為American Idol後，說了下面一段感人的話：

"I am just elated. I have dreamed of being in this place my whole life. There's nothing better than living out your dream."

然後又重新演唱了一次他在決賽時表演的最後一首歌曲"Flying Without Wings"，這首好久以前就聽過由西城男孩(Westlife)演唱的流行歌曲，不知怎麼的，現在聽來竟然特別動人...

English Writing--Sexual Orientation Discrimination


Although we live in a modern, open, and liberal century, the variety of sexual orientation still remains a controversial issue in many countries. While most people usually think about that the right thing should be something following the main stream, those having a different sexual orientation, such as homosexuality or bisexuality, are generally regarded as queer or morbid. Social bias is a form of discrimination that hurts these “queers” and makes them finally become really morbid.

[美東記事] 面子治療

面子問題要怎麼治療？... 當然是看醫生啊... 笨！^_^。

話說大約一個月前，cc的臉上開始冒出"青春痘"；cc其實很少有青春痘的，好不容易長出一兩顆時，還會趁機指著自己臉上的小紅點說"你看，我也有長啊"，藉以安慰安慰為"面子問題"而苦惱的朋友們... 因此啊... 起先也不以為意... 但這回的"青春痘"卻挺奇怪的，不但不會自動消失，反而還有日漸擴散的趨勢... 。

[交換日記] To Mom -- Happy Mother's Day

cc出國的這段日子，中華電信幾乎都沒賺到cc的錢，因為cc都是透過網路視訊的方式跟家人連絡；而且這種聯絡方式遠比打國際長途電話好多了，不只省錢，還很有趣，偶而還可以看見小姪子光溜溜地在床上跳來跳去... ^_^||。

cc也是有點影響力的人呢！因為cc出國，原先甚少使用網路的老弟夫婦去拉了ADSL，老媽開始接觸網路電話，老爸有時會在視訊會議中探個頭，小姪子Jimmy也去上了雙語幼稚園... 什麼？上雙語幼稚園跟網路無關？... 嗯... 是和網路沒什麼相關啦，但是跟cc正在學的英語有關，所以cc得多加油才是，才不會不小心被小Jimmy考倒了... :-p。

上回在網路電話裏，小Jimmy就磯哩聒拉地秀了一些他剛學會的英文單字，像是Cow、Pig、Apple、Banana...等等，聽他發音字正腔圓地，令人好生羨慕；不過我知道他一定還不認得"inhibition"這個字，也還不能體會長大後會被很多內在的inhibition限制，否則，就沒有辦法很自然地在電話另一端說"姑姑，我很想妳"了。

cc也很想念家人和朋友，但要cc親口說出"我很想你"或"我很愛你"這樣讓人雞皮疙瘩掉滿地的話，還是像登天般難。母親節前夕，原想透過網路電話學美國人大方說出"媽媽，我愛妳"，但終究還是無法突破內心障礙，只好又跑去賀卡網站挑選合適的賀詞，藉以感謝母親的愛心...
