About Broadband Tuner
The Broadband Tuner allows you to take full advantage of very high speed Internet connections that have a high latency (5 Mbps or greater). The installer tweaks some system parameters.

There is an optional uninstaller that can be used to restore the settings that were in effect at the time just before the system parameters were changed.

What does the Broadband Tuner do exactly?

The installer increases the default values for the size of the TCP send and receive buffers. With larger buffers more data can be in transit at once. A startup configuration file is also updated so that these changes will persist across restarts.

The system parameters are sysctl variables that are set as follows:
net.inet.tcp.sendspace: 131072
net.inet.tcp.recvspace: 358400
kern.ipc.maxsockbuf: 512000

This change has a system wide effect and is applied even if the network is not high speed connection with a high latency, with the exception of modem connections for which the system uses small default TCP buffer sizes.

其實，透過 sysctl 來調整就可以了

Release: VLC media player 0.8.4
之前在看一部影片時，用 VLC 看，不知道為什麼，字幕出不來，看沒幾秒 VLC 就給我 crash
屢試不爽，後來就沒再試了
看到 VLC 0.8.4 出來了，於是再試試看，還是一樣
在安裝時有看到一個 "Delete Preferences" 的 AppleScript
於是就給它執行下去，把一些舊的設定全移除
然後就可以正常看影片了
至於中文字幕的設定方式，跟舊的 0.8.2 版有些不太一樣
先進到 "偏好設定" 去
先把左下角的 "Advanced" 勾選起來
展開 Video，再展開 Subtitles/OSD 選取 Text renderer，在 Font 的地方，選取一個中文字型，如 "Apple LiGothic"
展開 Input / Codecs，再展開 Other codecs 後選取 Subtitles
然後在 Subtitles text encoding 裡選取 BIG5-HKSCS
最後按下 Save 儲存

打開影片檔就可以看囉，要選擇中文字幕，從選單中的 Video 裡的 Subtitles Track 中去選即可

既然都敗了很多錢了，乾脆就在這個月一次敗個爽，當歲末年終大採購吧
由於養貓，所以貓毛很多，家裡灰塵也很多
原來的那台空氣清淨機壞掉了，因此決定再買一下
一般看到日本原裝進口賣比較好的是 Sharp 跟 Mitsubishi 的
因此，鎖定這台 Sharp FU-S51T-B


在古亭站比較了璨坤、上新聯晴、豐澤、泰一等幾家後，最後在最便宜的那家刷下去了
為避免前天搬 Acer F20 回家時出現的各種狀況
這次有有叫店員幫我綁好讓我背著騎車載回家去

在 A bit more 上看到的 Kismac support for Airport Extreme
終於支援 passive mode on Airport Extreme Card 了

這台 Acer Ferrari F20 的 20 吋 16:10 鏡面寬螢幕真的很棒
也不知道為什麼，在看了 勸敗文 之後
一時興起，加上剛買 Mac mini，因此，若能配上一個好的 LCD 那將會更棒
於是跑到黃色小屋看了一下，二話不說就刷下去了
其實本來是想買 Acer AL-2032W 的，因為是一模一樣的東西，只差在法拉利的 Logo 而已，就多貴上 8000 多元
不過，找不到 AL-2032W 可買，所以，就把 F20 帶回去了(雖然拿回家的路上波折不斷)
現在用起來 1680x1050 真是爽
加上那隻馬，爽度更高...:)
