這一份排名節錄於2004年出版的一份報告: Faculty Quality at U.S. Graduate Planning Schools (Stiftel et. al., Journal of Planning Education and Research 24 (2004): 6-22.) 報告當中並沒有對規劃學院做出單一的排名,而是多項指標的排名. 想要講在前面的是: (1)這各排名主要是在評老師,而不是針對program.所以你不會看到研究生的素質,畢業後的薪資出路等資料; (2)這份報告是以學術期刊數量及引用的次數來做評量.這種評斷方式公不公平則見仁見智.我這樣講是因為在建築、地景建築、城市規劃與設計這個領域裡面,老師與學生最注重的是設計案的品質;很多人對於有沒有發表論文並不是很在乎.因此你會發現在這一份排名裡面,很注重設計實習課的學校(例如Harvard and Columbia)的排名都被排在很後面.
